Bamboozler: They'll Welcome Us with Flowers THIS Time
Remember Amir Taheri? He's the White House favorite who peddled the story that Iran was requiring its Jewish citizens to wear yellow stripes. Chilling story, if true -- which it wasn't. Well, Taheri -- who's prone to claiming non-existent sources and "[making] generalizations of breathtaking sweep and inaccuracy" -- is at it again.
Iraqis can't wait to have more U.S. troops running through their neighborhoods. And guess who's to blame for the internecine violence that's driving the American escalation? Cindy Sheehan! No kidding.
From his op-ed in today's New York Post:
". . . Baghdadis say the population of [war-torn Baghdad neighborhoods] will greet the American troops with sweets and flowers. The fear that the United States, bedeviled by internecine feuds, might cut and run has been at the root of the violence since Iraq's liberation in 2003.
Jihadists have fought not because they hope to win on the battlefield, but to strengthen the antiwar lobbies in the United States and Britain."

Didn't he say that Homosexuals were required to wear identifiers in Iran, as well? Only the Post would permit this crank to write an Op Ed for them - until the "liberal" MSM caves into barking from the wingnutosphere.

Not sure if everyone has seen these videos of the US military in Iraq or not, but they are pretty amazing: Hopefully our 'surge' will not include too many of these types...

"Sweets and flowers"?!!! I take it that means we will be greeted as liberators... again.
I like the part where Taheri claims that the Bush administration has been allowing terrorists "to strike whenever they wish without being chased by the Iraqi army or the multinational force" and that the U.S. is finally going to go after that terrorist network set up by Iran and Syria. And this plan will even have our troops home by the end of the year. Wonder why we didn't try it at the start of 2006. It took 3 years for it to occur to Bush to go after the terrorists.
It is a sign of desparation that the contrived talking points in support of surge require conceding absurd levels of incompetence so the strategy appears new.

How absurd can you get? No one kills and dies to strengthen any fracking lobby.

"Cindy Sheehan! No kidding.".....
Taheri's argument about jihadists taking solace in the American left's clear weaknesses, most especially in times of war, is a legitimate complaint.
Cindy Sheehan is an emotionally unstable woman, to say the very least. Her politics are clear. The fact that she's found a soul-mate in Hugo Chavez has not taken anyone by surprise, except maybe Casey Sheehan.
Most things really are what they seem.
I suspect Mr. Rood knows this, too.

I believe that he and all those at AEI, PNAC and Fox network should accompany those troops... or better yet, go out alone and gather the sweets and flowers!
Wanne take bets that they won't do so?

This man is a grunt stain and the New York Post would have done a better job reporting the news if they had printed and distributed this from the laundro-mat.
Cindy sheehan in my opinion has more fortitude than any squeaker from the right commenting in a disparaging manner on a political blog. NOBLE CAUSE INDEED! Like any aspersion cast regarding her sanity and friends would suffice to cover the crimes of this hideous war and this completely corrupted government administration.

It is refreshing to see the same people who blame our defeat in Vietnam on Jane Fonda to find Cindy Sheehan responsible for the failure of the Iraq war. What you can never quite convey to the little weanie club is that war is not a tool for diplomacy. When the war policy fails they turn to those who oppose this policy and blame them for its failure. Anything to to deflect responsibility for the impending defeat and to salvage what remains the rights masculinity. While Hitler hid in the bunker he moved non existent armies on a map of the world. He quoted "experts" who predicted the the allies would turn on one another and that America would save the Reich. The expression is "grasping at other peoples straws" and it is beneath most Americans. A large portion of the right woke up last November and did the right thing for the good of the nation. There is still much to be done and it requires resoned discussion. Enough name calling lets work together to bring the troops home and salvage the once great name of America.
