McKay Testifies about Call from Hastings' Staffer
More from today's hearing, where John McKay revealed that Rep. Doc Hastings' (R-WA) then chief of staff called Seattle U.S. Attorney John McKay to inquire about whether the feds were investigating allegations of voter fraud in the 2004 Washington governor's race:

Doc Hastings is the ranking Republican on the House Ethics Committee!!! (the committee on "Standards of Official Conduct", that is)

Doc Hastings was installed as Chair of the House "Ethics" Committee with the blessing of Hastert and the Hammer on February 2, 2005. The disputed November 2004 Washington gubernatorial election was in litigation until June 6, 2005, when the GOP contentions were flushed down the toilet by the court. Hastings' hatchetman pressured the chief federal law enforcement officer of Western Washingon to launch a criminal investigation to benefit the GOP in this disputed period? Is it time to launch an Ethics Committee investigation of the Ranking Member and his underlings?

I hope and expect Hastings will be receiving notice of CREW filing ethics charges against him. Considering that he was chair of the House Ethics Committee at the time he turned
Cassidy on McKay, it doesn't exactly bode well for him keeping his seniority status in WA State's Republican delegation.
