White House Officials Quizzed Prosecutor on Dem Investigation
Josh flagged this last night, but McClatchy has a fuller account of former USA John McKay's remarks:
In an interview, McKay said his handling of the 2004 Washington governor's race came back to haunt him when he was interviewed about a federal judgeship by then-White House Counsel Harriet Miers and others in her office.McKay said he was asked in the late summer or early fall of 2006 to explain the criticism of how he'd "mishandled" the governor's race investigation. McKay didn't reveal who asked the question, but he said it wasn't Miers.
McKay didn't get the nomination.
As McKay testified yesterday, he didn't pursue an investigation of alleged voter fraud by Democrats because there was "no evidence."

Not specifically on topic, but anyway I was pretty amazed that the prosecutor purge hearings didn't make the front page of this morning's New York Times.

Dude! Voter fraud is a Republican sport . . . Of course, there was no evidence of Rove-arian tactics associated with very un-American (dare I say French-ified) Democratic Party . . .

Speaking of voter fraud, one of the Republican replacement US Attorneys Tim Griffin likes the stuff:
"The Griffin scheme was sickly brilliant. We learned that the RNC sent first-class letters to new voters in minority precincts marked, “Do not forward.” Several sheets contained nothing but soldiers, other sheets, homeless shelters. Targets included the Jacksonville Naval Air Station in Florida and that city’s State Street Rescue Mission. Another target, Edward Waters College, a school for African-Americans.
If these voters were not currently at their home voting address, they were tagged as “suspect” and their registration wiped out or their ballot challenged and not counted. Of course, these ‘cages’ captured thousands of students, the homeless and those in the military though they are legitimate voters.
We telephoned those on the hit list, including one Randall Prausa. His wife admitted he wasn’t living at his voting address: Randall was a soldier shipped overseas."

Does anyone have the slightest idea what happens now? We’ve had hearings, but all that has resulted is statements from the administration about disgruntled fired employees, typical admin taunting. They taunt because they believe there is nothing to be afraid of, so far that’s true.
Is there anything different this time? Please, someone, give me reason for hope. It’s late and I’m so tired.

what we have is three gongresspeople under the gun
one of the members of the house ethics panel, a rebup, might have to recuse himself leaving it a dem controlled panel?
its just the beginning. things liek this can explode if agressively pursued.
if any more USAs come forward it will be because the ones that already have spoken up were protected by dems and their agressors pursued liek dogs in the street. then more will come forward. it could explode if handled correctly.
i have not confidence in many dems to do the proper thing and go after them liek gangbusters. so i'm not holding my breath.
