Kerik: "I Have Made Mistakes"

A subdued Bernie Kerik, the man who's taught Rudy Giuliani the value of background checks, made an appearance on Fox News today.

After weighing in on the Iran hostage resolution and inveighing against Nancy Pelosi's trip to Syria, Kerik was finally asked about reports that he was the target of a federal investigation.

He responded by rattling off every award and citation he'd received in his long public service career, allowed that he'd "made mistakes" (to which he'd pled guilty), and cautioned that "the U.S. attorney may do an investigation, he does not have to push criminal charges."

Unfortunately for Kerik, while the U.S. attorney doesn't have to charge him, it seems very likely that Kerik will eventually be indicted.

Mistakes: Republican slang for "felonies."

Yeah Bernie, with what we know about the "Bushie" US attorneys, you probably will get off. It's good to be a Republican and a Mafia member too.

Save us Lord!

user-pic

And if this doesn't send you a signal about Guiliani, what will? The guy is like Mitt Romney and Roland...uh, before Roland was convicted that is...that's my take home message. Of course, I don't want to hog that message just for myself.

user-pic

N.Y. Police Commissioner and he has a G.E.D.

Kerik can't be a Republican . . . He did not mention rehab or black-out memory episodes . . .

He seems to be almost accepting an iota of personal responiblity.

I not saying he ain't the scum off a fly's naughty-bits . . . Cuz DAMN!

user-pic

He forgot to mention that the screw pad he was loaned right after 9/11 and forgot to pay the value of in taxes was lent to him and Rudy.

Then again Rudy forgets he tried to lock his wife and kids out of the Mayor's Mansion so he chase the current Mrs. Rudy.

Another War Profiteer crashing and burning.

user-pic

That'll make a shiny nail in Rudy's campaign coffin.

user-pic

Fox News has jumped the shark with this interview.

user-pic

I thought he was in jail. Certainly, he belongs there rather than television. But at least this helps put a nail in Rudy's coffin.

user-pic

Bernie-you were balling that ogre bitch JUDITH REGAN in an apartment house downtown owned by the police dept and running up huge tabs.
You Pig.

user-pic

SIDE NOTE: has anyone else realized that the FOX opinion-cast network has Republican talkers that are predominately FELONS of scandals gone past . . . AND there is no mention of this bonofide on the bar below their name BUT . . .

SNOOP DOG gets Hip-hop & Felon below his name . . .

INQUIRY: What is up with that?

INQUIRY: Are White Republicans worth the same level of note as an entertainer?

INQUIRY: Is it just Snoop Dog has got a better publicist or the folk at FOX just racist as well as Fascist plutocratic klepocrats?

Inquiring minds wanna know . . .

user-pic

Yes, he "accepted" two ethics violations last year. Is "accepted" now the Rethuglican euphamism for "pled guilty"?

Service in Iraq? A *wonderful* success. Details here: http://www.thenation.com/blogs/outrage?pid=2058

Oh, his *poor* family. While I actually do have sympathy for them, Bernie, you brought it on them yourself by being a world class scumbag. Somewhat disingenuous to blame their suffering and shame on the investigators.

user-pic

Neil Cavuto is to journalism as GW Bush is the to the presidency.

user-pic

the U.S. attorney may do an investigation, he does not have to push criminal charges."...

Not if they want to keep their job and/or reputation... Anyone know the name of the USA looking at this?

user-pic

Kerik knows a lot about Rudy, having been his driver while Rudy was stepping out...

No wonder this oaf was Police Commissioner.

user-pic

we hope its over soon too bernie

"Mistakes: Republican slang for 'felonies.'"

Yes, but let's give him credit for using the active voice.

Iran hostage resolution?

WTF?

The British that were detained were NOT hostages.

Why?

The Iranian government did NOT demand anything for their release.

To call them "hostages" is totally wrong.

"Hostages" is being used by the Boy Butcher (i.e. Bush) to rekindle the anti-Iranian mentality from the late 70s and early 80s.

Back then, Hizbollah took hostages.

They did so in order to secure the release of the Kuwait 17, who were from the Al-Da'wa party and were implicated in the bombing of the US Embassy.

Those were hostages.

Their captors were not leaders from the Iranian govt.

So please, stop furthering the Boy Butcher's propaganda designed to rekindle the anti-Iranian sentiment from the 80s.

user-pic

Religion and FOX News are the last bastion of scoundrels.

Compare the British with **real hostages**....

Dec. 3, 1984 Hijacking of Kuwait Airways Flight 221

Kuwait Airways Flight 221, on its way from Kuwait to Pakistan, was hijacked and diverted to Tehran. The hijackers demanded the release of the Kuwait 17. When the demand wasn't met, the hijackers killed two American officials from the U.S. Agency for International Development. On the sixth day of the drama, Iranian security forces stormed the plane and released the remaining hostages.

Iran arrested the hijackers, saying they would be brought to trail. But the trial never took place, and the hijackers were allowed to leave the country. There was no U.S. military response. The State Department announced a $250,000 reward for information leading to the arrests of those involved in the hijacking. Later press reports linked Hezbollah's Imad Mughniyah to the hijackings.

Horror Abroad Flight 221
By John Kohan

The hijackers called for the release from Kuwaiti prisons of their "innocent brothers," [i.e. Kuwait 17, from Al-Dawa] who they claimed had been tortured by "the joint butchering machine" of Kuwait, the U.S. and France. They admitted murdering two Americans and vowed to kill a third, whom they identified as "Charles Kipper," along with three Kuwaiti diplomats if their demands were not met. The American and Kuwaiti hostages, the hijackers declared, were "no more than a group of criminals who deserve to be killed according to the judgment of God and the Koran" and would never be let go, only "killed or buried under the aircraft wreckage."

I remember that Anthony Cordesman labeled Kerik's tenure in Iraq training the police as "criminal". He did not use Kerik's name, but it was obvious who he was referring to. Sorry I don't have the reference. Can someone ask Cordesman what and who he meant, specifically? He might be more loquacious when the indictments come out.

In the book "The Prince of the Marshes," Rory Stewart has breakfast in the Green Zone on p. 107. "One table down from us was Bernie Kerik, the ex-New York police commisioner, now the Iraqi interior minister, stting alone. My friend told me that he was often with a personal PR team who organized the press photos of him in shades, gun in hand, bringing zero tolerance to Baghdad."

I think we should start a Republican to English dictionary.
For starters:

1. Made mistakes - Commited crimes
2. Misspoke - Lied
3. As was reported - As was planted
Additions?

Republican/English dictionary:

Activist Judge: A judge who rules in a way that is contrary to Republican goals

Hollywood values: Social values and mores reflected in mass-produced entertainment that is at least as popular in Red States as it is in Blue States.

user-pic

Just exactly what makes Kerik qualified to spout his opinion about Nancy Pelosi's trip to Syria or anything else for that matter. Just Fox trying to do a PR plug for this crook. The problem is if Faux didn't allow crooks or liars on the show, there would be no Faux Noise.

user-pic

BREAKING NEWS:
MOBSTER CRIMINAL DISLIKES PELOSI TRIP!

user-pic

Let me get this straight. They say "Mistakes were made," if they are clearly guilty but the evidence isn't in the hands of the prosecutor yet. Then they say, "I have made mistakes but you don't have to punish me," once it is.

user-pic

Every news story about this thug begins with his new title...Disgraced ex NYC Police Commissioner.
His name has been removed from the "Tombs" correctional facility in lower Manhattan that was renamed in his honor. Seems to me all he did post 9-11 was to shadow Giuliani at all the press conferences. A legend in his own mind.
code=copper He couldn't be a pimple on a real cops ass.

user-pic

This is great. Faux News is the repository for every criminal subverting the intent of our constitution. I'm really looking forward to the Oliver North, John Poindexter, and now Bernie Kerik show. Instead of the Faux News Network, they will soon be known as the Felonious News Network. Amerika, what have we become?

.Conspiracy to protect and enact a coup

If the U.S. attorneys responsible for enforcing voting rights are actually political operatives for one or the other party, then who is going to enforce the voting rights of voters for the other party. Also, how would you proceed if you wanted to arrest large numbers of individuals for various illegal acts so that they would be in custody at the time of a coup? You would place lots of political operatives in positions to arrest lots of people.

SC: step. Yes, it's a small step from a G.E.D...

This is funny...

Fox News has jumped the shark with this interview.

What I remember most about opposing the Kerik nomination is his history in the Iraq War. Sorry, but NYers were a little too close to the action to be objective (we gotta fight 'em over there lore). Did he have a little revenge in his heart?

Bernie was in Baghdad for 3 months with the CPA setting up the re-arming of Iraq's own military forces, er... police force. He's in the stun-gun business but suddenly stepped up to nukes? This is your classic story of power corrupting. But let's face it, he leads an exciting life. One STEP ahead of the law. This joker and Fred Thompson, the Law and Order of NY... they didn't jump the shark too?!

(here's where I do)
An Immigration Issue

Those first months of the occupation (when BK was on the scene), when billions of dollars happened to vanish, there were Iraqi kids who volunteered as interpreters. 60 Minutes did a show a couple weeks ago. They want asylum in the US and are having a helluva time getting refugee status. Kids who put their life on the line as much as any of our troops going there, helping this war. So they either believe in the American Way, or know how to hustle. But if we don't take them in, they will be known as traitors for the rest of their lives. So, who has the moral courage to help the loyalists now?

I don't like putting their lives in danger (they already are), but the ones who talked for these big crooks must know things even the mafia wouldn't want heard.

It's time to rescue these people and put them in witness protection. Those are the jobs the USA's should be working on pertaining to immigration issues. Getting their stories and going after the big fish.

And it's a way to win hearts and minds.

This is actually hilarious in a perverse sort of way. Fox news lacks the insight to realize that by continually putting the felons on air they not only undermine the felons but themselves as well. Hope they don't realize their blunder until it's too late.

user-pic

OK this really pisses me off, the bs with everyone always coming to defend the Democratic Party claiming it is so "PERFECT" It's strikes me as hilarious when the Democratic party screws up your party is all too quick to circle the wagons, Clinton and White Water, the Monica Lewensky and the whole committing purjury over I smoked weed but didn't inhale. The democratic media and you liberals quickly jumped to his defense and still do any time one of your own make a mistake then act all high and mighty over it. You LIBERALS are the damn problem with this country not the solution, wanting to remove our troops from third world countries like Iraq, OK so let's just pull our troops out of the country and give them an OPEN invitation to come into OUR country? Oh and not to mention, we'll use that money for FARM subsudies instead of our national defense. Yeah that will REALLY help protect us from terrorists.. ROFL what a bunch of idiots you liberals are. Since you obviously love and support the terrorists so much why don't you go LIVE in Iraq i'm sure they will just greet you American Liberals with open arms..
