The AP is reporting that Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty will resign according to "two Justice Department officials." We'll have more when it becomes available.

This is a huge, huge victory....as long as he doesn't reappear in another place as a FIXER. I've been hoping for this for a long time, since election 2000 Florida recount, actually.

Chris Mathews is reporting that McNulty is resigning because of college aged children and a public service salary. Bullshit. McNulty is dirty. My gut tells me he is resigning to save himself. Gonzo needs a lamb to slaughter and McNulty has been around since Reagan. This guy is not going to fall on the sword for Gonzo. It is a victory at some levels, but also a bit lost opportunity to put his dirty feet to the fire. He is a dirty as a public toilet.

Code word: amount = amount of crap this McNulty is butied in. up to his eyeballs.

I agree with you, Ducky. Many people are inclined to think kindly of McNulty (and I even think Josh is a little easy on him) -- something about his face that makes people want to trust him, I guess.

But I believe he's been an enemy of the people for a long time.
