Stevens: Investigation "Could Cause Me Some Trouble"
Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) told the Associated Press that the ongoing federal probe into his dealings with oil services company Veco could have ramifications at the polls:
"The worst thing about this investigation is that it does change your life in terms of employment potential," Stevens said in an interview with The Associated Press. "It doesn't matter what anyone says, it does shake you up. If this is still hanging around a year from November, it could cause me some trouble."
Stevens also commented on his home remodeling project overseen by Veco that's reportedly of interest to investigators:
"I'm working to get this concept out of my mind that someone is trying to make something illegal out of all this, That's what's really disturbing."
While Stevens was in Washington, Veco executives made sure his house was safely ratcheted off the ground and a new first story slipped in.

Woo hoo!! Two posts in a row on Stevens -- go get 'em TPM!

No one is trying to make something illegal out of this Stevens. Your cronyism has become so routine you can't tell a crooked line from a straight one.

Funny how a "lawmaker" believes that it's possible to make something illegal out of something that's perfectly legal. Sounds like Ted "Series of Tubes" Stevens has been spending too much time chatting with Rove about taking down politicla opponents.

I'm curious as to why Stevens hasn't just told the investigators NO.

These scofflaws are SO CUTE when they caught and try to convince everyone they're innocent. Reminds of watching "Cops" when they catch a bad guy and the guy starts whimpering and crying like a little kid.

Is he a Republican? Then he wasn't illegally wiretapped.

"I'm working to get this concept out of my mind that someone is trying to make something illegal out of all this, That's what's really disturbing."
That makes no sense at all.
Let's diagram that sentence and put it back together in an order that makes sense:
"What's really disturbing is that I'm working to get this concept out of my mind. The offensive concept is that someone is trying to make something illegal out of all this."
Cognitive dissonance is a b!tch, eh Senator? I mean, "cronyism is good" and "accepting kickbacks isn't illegal" just can't be questioned, right? So obviously "someone is making something illegal" here, right? Yes, please get that out of your mind.
Senator Stevens, you've been corrupt so long I understand why it's inconceivable to you that other people would actually have a problem with it.

Stevie Boy: Hey, I'm the one getting the money so it can't be corruption can it?
Wolfie: Hey, I'm the one doing a favor for a friend so it can't be corruption can it?
ReThugs generally: Hey, our hearts are pure so the laws don't apply to us?
When will they get it into their heads that making the law is no excuse?

David Iglesias is a patriot first and a republican second. That alone is enough to make him appear like an "idiot" to Fox News ... or other "loyal bushies!"

The sad part is that many of our government representatives ... just like their executive counterparts in the private sector ... don't seem to have any ethics or character. Their primary, if not sole goal, is personal gain.
