Musharraf: I Take it Back
Earlier this week, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf announced, to the great embarrassment of the U.S., that he wouldn't be attending a joint Afghan-Pakistan tribal conference aimed at cracking down on jihadists.
Now, after phone calls from Condoleezza Rice and Afghan President Hamid Karzai, he takes it back:
Bowing to international pressure, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Friday agreed "in principle" to address a key joint Afghan-Pakistani tribal council in Kabul, the foreign ministry said.

Maybe he's afraid that the Tribal Council will vote him off the island. This is a man truly stuck between a rock and a hard place. It's easy for Americans to blame him for not cooperating in the war on terror, until you realize that if Pakistan had a truly Democratic election they'd elect the terrorists into office and give them control of their nukes. Do you think Osama and his cohorts didn't know all of this before they got that 3 bedroom cottage with a view in Waziristan? Pakistan has far more to offer them than Afghanistan, especially with Bush's highly inept and unsophisticated version of diplomacy.

Bill, Pakistan's last democratically elected government --- the one that Musharraf overthrew --- wasn't even close to being extremist. The problem for Musharref is the Pakistani Secret Service and parts of the Army....

Musharraf's wife and children are probably being held hostage in some CIA dark site until he goes and gets back from the jorga ... consider it a super-arm-twisting for the 21st Century.

Way to go Musharraf! That won't make you look like a weak puppet of Bush and Condoleeza.

Two days ago, Condi called Musharref to ask not to declare martial law, otherwise she get mad. Clearly, noone listens to Condi anymore. She should resign and go back to dating college girls.
