USA Scandal: Where Are They Now?

So what's next for Alberto Gonzales' former chief of staff Kyle Sampson? Where does a senior Justice Department official with an expertise in politicization, who has experience orchestrating a purge of prosecutors, engaging in a clumsy cover-up, and getting drubbed when testifying before Congress, go next?

The answer: working for drug companies. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Sampson has landed a gig with the mega-firm Hunton & Williams, in their food and drug practice. There, Sampson will help companies navigate the wilds of Food and Drug Administration regulation, among other duties. The Tribune also reports that the firm has landed a much bigger fish in Sheldon Bradshaw, who, in true revolving door fashion, recently resigned as general counsel of the FDA. Bradshaw also has DoJ experience -- he was one of the political appointees overseeing the notoriously politicized Civil Rights Division. So he and Sampson will likely get along fine.

But wait! Let's not forget Bradley Schlozman who had his own version of what a "loyal Bushie" is -- his phrase for it was "good Americans." Earlier this month, The Kansas City Star reported that Schlozman has opted for a quiet retirement from his rigorous politicization duties at the Department. He'll be practicing tax law at a Kansas City law firm.

The troubles of both, however, are not over, as they are both currently under investigation by the Department's inspector general, whose report on the mess at the DoJ is still forthcoming.

What? Are they now going to manipulate the vote using drugs?

What about Monica?

They both belong in jail. John, was Monica involved with these guys as well?? If not, get over it, it's been almost 10 years!!!! Come into the 21st century.

Bill i think he's talking about monica "I swore to uphold the President" goodling. Could be a troll, but i think its just a case of mistaken identity.

avatar

Bill, I believe John was referring to that gross mousey blond pig Monica Goodling

On the upside, maybe these guys can do for corporations what they did for government...screw up the whole mess and force light to be shined in dark corporate corners.
True case of Peter Principle.....

So these corporations have hired the corrupted and the fallen. And in doing so give credence to the contradiction in terms, "business ethics".

You don't have to be a blind conservative not to see it, just an ignorant one to deny it.

Where is Karl Rove?

Someone needs to put a bell around his neck.

Wrong! Schlozman is working for a firm in Wichita, KS. Apparently couldn't find anything in DC or Kansas City. For your mistake, I sentence you to a month as my personal assistant in SPL.

avatar

Schlozman's bosom buddy, John Tanner, might be joining him soon, if he's called back for another Congressional hearing on the Hill.

BushCo theme song: C'mon, take the money
and run...

A possible on Schlozman. Bush Pioneer & WellCare CEO Todd Farha could be looking at Medicare & Medicaid fraud, as well as securities fraud. Farha is a native of, guess where - Wichita.
This case is worth a look-see even if Schlozman's dirty hands aren't operating, but the Medicaid fraud makes it sound like the Doctor is in.

So they enter government. Purjor themselves before congress. Then get set out to pasture in cushy jobs provided to them by their mega corporation benefactors. Wow this system works really well!

What's a guy gotta do to get disbarred around here?

avatar

Hmmm. This is interesting: the J. Reuben Clark Law Society strikes again. Sampson and Bradshaw both have ties to David Higbee, the former Deputy Associate Attorney General and White House Liaison who worked with Monica Goodling. Higbee is a genuinely nice guy but he was mentioned a few times too many in the Rove memos that were released to the Senate Judiciary Committee. What the heck does Sampson know about 21 C.F.R. anyway?

Imagine when the DOJ is run by Democrats with a Democrat serving as Attorney General and a Democrat serving as Preisdent. The one thing I'm sure of is that the law will be the determining factor instead of Executive Privilege or stonewalling or lost emails, or cover-ups or Presidential pardons. It's time to use every legal means available to congress and our courts to expose the criminals and bring them to justice no matter who they may be. Checks and balances and accountability are about to be vigorusly returned to American government.
