Senate Votes to End Debate on Surveillance Bill
The Senate is very close to wrapping its work on the bill today.
Part of the agreement between the parties was a cloture vote before moving on to the final vote. That passed easily, with only 29 Dems voting against. The final vote on the bill is expected later today.
Update: Here's the final tally.

It is hard to argue for electing more Democrats. But that is what we have to do, then we need to weed out the DINOs.

Insanity (one definition): Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results...
.... and we will still put these folks back into office again and again (giving them all the excuses even they, themselves could never dream of)... hopeful that they will be different next time...
WE are the ones destroying our democracy, not them...

Where the fuck is Chris Dodd? I thought he would filibuster?

Very disappointed in Dodd. Why did he not withhold his consent from the rule? He should have forced a vote at *every* step of the way.

Unfortunately we are limited by the options we're given to choose from.
I mean we can write in but barring some national and yes organized campaign oh meh why bother dreaming but we can only stay home or sanction the undeserving.
And the MSM dares to talk about voter apathy, it's never been about apathy it's been about voter disgust.
The Congressional Democrats had the opportunity to rehabilitate a year's worth of squandered credibility but now I realize..none of them care about credibility or the country, just their jobs.

With apologies to Phil Ochs:
"Here's to the land you've torn out the heart from,
Senate Democrats find some other country to be part of!"

Looks like we have entered the new era of the Repubicrats. The new one party system of the future. And the future is now.

That nice speech Dodd gave yesterday didn't mean a thing...he puts on a good act and then always fizzles out.
They all fizzle out in the end, don't they?
Oh, how ashamed I am of this country.
