Man I'd like to be a fly on the wall there.

I imagine that the GOP will use this as a fear mongering talking point after the vote, when the House offers a FISA bill w/out immunity.

The implication being, heh look at the DEMS they voted to make the country less safe, and the public unamused and watching the economy going to hell and the conflicts dragging on, (no there was no formal declaration of war, though there was a resolution to use force) and a scenario where similar to Spain when the bus bombing occured, the GOP will pay the price for all of this in Nov.

This is political theatre pure and simple. It goes to show that the quote: Retiring Rep. Thomas M. Davis III (R-VA): "The House Republican brand is so bad right now that if it were a dog food, they'd take it off the shelf."

And I think the GOP knows it, incumbants sense it, and that in the absence of troops coming home, lower fuel prices, more jobs, higher stock market averages, and rising home values that the voter is NOT amused.

The extreme segments, those who make up the primary voting segment, that 15% to 19% that make up the primaries are pretty much finished the process.

It will be interesting to see politicians show up empty handed this fall, no jobs, falling dollar, higher inflation, stagflation, conflicts raging on in Muslim lands, and then make the argument: I voted immunity to proctect the phone companies, or I stood for your civil liberties.

As the war goes, so does John McCain.

My bet is that if the Democrats stick to their guns that the GOP will have actually imploded and the swing vote exhausted with all the colored coded fear mongering is gonna vote for change, vote Democrat, and that the Senate, House, and Executive Branch will be firmly in Democratic control.

I listened to the debate on C-span in traffic, and the question by Dennis kucinich, "heh guys, can't we vote after secret session to make the contents public later" the kicker.

It was a GOP stunt, but when the Dems rally a vote to make the session public for their spot ads, this is gonna make Nov. fun....

It really is turning out to be a "miserable failure", and I'm really registered GOP. And I'll be damned if I'll send money so that it can be stolen this year.

It is sickening to watch...

The GOP is out of touch, lost total touch.. as if "immunity" and FISA can be confused.

The GOP is drunk on stale rheroric and their self-brewed Koolaid and the public is getting angrier when they pull these secret sessions for the phone companies that slam the voters with late fees.

The depth of compassion for the telcos on the street wouldn't wet your ankles with the voters.

I'm surprised the GOP didn't include a tax break for corporations urinating in the public well as they were at it.

Miserable Failure and a GOP debacle this fall.

And McCain?? FlipFlopper in chief on torture..

If the war/conflict worsens.. that will cost him.
