Libby Disbarred
Who says that Scooter Libby is going unpunished?
I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby was disbarred from practicing law in the nation's capital on Thursday.I Lewis "Scooter" Libby was convicted to lying to a grand jury and investigators last year.
The former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney was convicted last year of lying to a grand jury and federal agents probing the leak of the identity of a CIA agent, Valerie Plame Wilson.
"When a member of the Bar is convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude, disbarment is mandatory," the District of Columbia Court of Appeals wrote in its opinion, which is posted on its Web site.
It's all part of the president's "measured" approach to Libby's commutation. Sure, Libby won't have to serve that 30 month jail sentence. But the remaining punishments (the bother of reporting to a probation officer, the inconvenience of disbarment, that $250,000 fine) are "harsh."

Justice comes in drips -- the dam built by Bush against the law leaks a bit.

Has he been taken off the McLean, VA voter rolls also?
In Virginia, felons lose the right to vote.

"Moral turpitude" indeed.
When politics is taken out of the mix and someone just looks at the facts, his obvious douchebaggery shines through.

Is this the legal community's equivalent of hanging this traitor from the nearest tree? At least someone did something patriotic in this matter.
Wouldn't outing a CIA spy in charge of hunting loose nukes during a time of war qualify as high treason?
I am so glad all he can be now is a lobbyist with deep connections to the highest levels of the Republican party.
Am I wrong, or is this one of the prime example's of how history should judge President Foster Brooks Bush.

If that didn't, nothing does.

Good point. When the Bush administration no longer controls the DOJ?

Big freakin' deal, he was only disbarred in D.C. That means he CAN practice law in 50 states.

As I understand it, to practice in a federal court an attorney first has to be admitted to a state bar somewhere. What state was Libby licensed to practice in, and does he still have a license there?

Bush realized that Libby wouldn't serve one day in jail without outing Cheney.
Libby disbarred in D.C. Big deal. V. Plame lost her career.

He will be pardoned anyway on Bush's last day in office. I'm sure he was/will be rewarded abundantly for falling on his sword for the evil-doers.
