Rove to Congress: Let's Be Pen Pals
The House Judiciary Committee wants Karl Rove to testify about what he knows about the prosecution of ex-Gov. Don Siegelman (D-AL). Rove doesn't want to testify. Conyers has threatened to seek a subpoena, and in response, Rove's lawyer made an offer for a compromise yesterday.
It was somewhat of an improvement on Rove's preliminary offer, which was a private interview with no transcript or oath and with strictly defined parameters. The new offer is that he will testify in writing. So it would create a record of his answers, thus creating a clear basis for prosecution if he were to lie. On the other hand, it's hardly the ideal forum for questioning.
Chairman John Conyers (D-MI) has yet to indicate what he thinks of the offer. We'll let you know when he does.

Well, well! You see? Who said Karl was uncooperative? Here's proof that he is willing to cooperate in full...[albeit under his own rules]
[I was under the impression that it was the members of the Commitee who made the rules not the people called to testify.I got it all worng!]
Actually, it would be more fun to have a Jeopardy!-type hearing. Conyers can read the answers and Karl can ask the questions.
Siegelman scandal for 200 please, John

As though any of these clown actually CARE what Conyers (or anyone else, for that matter) thinks.
when there are no consequences, the thugs rule... and it appears the present congress supports the crooks 100%.

JFC! What the hell is it going to take for this Congress to hold these slimeballs to some sort of accountability?
His immediate response should be, "Hell NO."
I think my outrage-o-meter just broke.

Seeing as KKKarl doesnt' mind "written" communication, then he won't mind it being through the use of instant messaging, where the congress can bombard him with 20 questions at a time.

Totally agreed with most people here. Karl Rove and his ilk have made a mockery of the rule of law. Aside from testifying under oath, there is NO WAY he should be in the public eye.
Doesn't contempt of congress mean anything at all? I think Conyers' efforts have been heroic, but his colleagues are for the most part mean-spirited, cowardly rats.

I hope he is indicted during the next administration because I fear that Bush would categorically pardon him.
