Would Googling Him Have Been So Hard?
Success in Iraq is critical to U.S. national interests, which is why we've insisted on sending our best and brightest civilians there: loyal Republicans, young GOP political operatives, and in the case of Owen Cargol, a man who fancies himself "a rub-your-belly, grab-your-balls, give-you-a-hug, slap-your-back, pull-your-dick, squeeze-your-hand, cheek-your-face, and pat-your-thigh kind of guy."
As Inside Higher Ed reports today, Cargol resigned back in April as the first chancellor of the American University in Iraq, apparently for health reasons, but he'd been forced out of a previous position as president of Northern Arizona University after just four months for allegedly sexually harassing a NAU employee:
Cargol's 2001 resignation stemmed from allegations made by a Northern Arizona employee who alleged that Cargol, while naked in a locker room, grabbed the employee's genitals, the Arizona Republic reported. In a subsequent e-mail to the employee, Cargol described himself as "a rub-your-belly, grab-your-balls, give-you-a-hug, slap-your-back, pull-your-dick, squeeze-your-hand, cheek-your-face, and pat-your-thigh kind of guy."
The American University in Iraq, located in Sulaimaniya in the Kurdish-controlled north, was heralded as a progressive step towards democratization. It selected Cargol as its first chancellor in 2007, though why is unclear since, as Inside Higher Ed notes, his "checkered past. . . could have been revealed to university organizers in a simple Google search."
AU-I is a private, non-profit institution, but it was started with $10.5 million from the U.S. government and its board --which hired Cargol -- is stacked with prominent names:
Iraqi President Jalal Talabani is chairman of the Board of Regents; and Barham Salih, Iraq's deputy prime minister, is president of the Board of Trustees. Zalmay Khalilzad, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq and a counselor to former U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, sits on the board. So too does Fouad Ajami, head of Middle Eastern studies at Johns Hopkins University.Agresto, the new interim chancellor, brings his own bona fides. As detailed in Imperial Life in the Emerald City, Agresto has close connections to Rumsfeld and Vice President Dick Cheney's wife, Lynne Cheney, with whom Agresto served during a stint at the National Endowment for the Humanities. A self-described neoconservative who was "mugged by reality" in Iraq, Agresto "knew next to nothing about Iraq's educational system" when he arrived with orders to rebuild it, The Washington Post reported.
How Agresto and his colleagues came to select Cargol to head AU-Iraq is unclear, but Cargol's decision to reinvent himself as an administrator in the Middle East preceded his work in Iraq. Before he took the chancellor's post, Cargol was provost of Abu Dhabi University, a private institution in the United Arab Emirates.

Cargol's "a rub-your-belly, grab-your-balls, give-you-a-hug, slap-your-back, pull-your-dick, squeeze-your-hand, cheek-your-face, and pat-your-thigh kind of guy."
In other words, a totally out-of-control, don't-drop-your-soap-in-the-shower, boys-are-for-sex-girls-are-for-babies kinda guy. Just the fella you'd want at the American Univeristy-Iraq. Team mascot" "The Towel-snappers"

Unclear? It's a clear as the rarefied air in Bush's bubble.
Cargol was selected the same way that Agresto was selected, and Gonzales, and Alphonso, and on and on. He was selected for his loyalty to Bush and Co and nothing else mattered.
Besides, why should Cargol's high-jinks be such an issue? It's frat boy mentality, isn't it? And frat boys are awesome, right?

Is anybody in the Bush administration straight? Are there any actual straight Republicans in government at all? Are Rush's string of failed marriges becuase he is a closet twink chaser?
We'll we should have seen it coming after Bush's first years in the White House and the sleep-overs with his bald fake reporter/ gay male escort friend. Man did the media bury that story way too early!

Rush Limbaugh's failed marriages? Good grief, can you imagine being married to that sub-human bag of filth? I had to meet him once, and I felt dirty just being within 2 feet.

Let's see now, he had to get out of town at Northern ARIZONA and then turns up at the GOP controlled American U in Iraq.
Watson! Do you think there could be a McCain connection here? Hmmmm...

So, one could say he moved to Babylonia. Was he born in Arizona? Is he, in fact, King Tut? Why is the MSM ignoring this important angle?

If it were not for the fact that in real life people get seriously hurt by that sort of thing --Deborah Jeanne Palfrey-- then I would really have enjoyed reading about the Bush scandals for the past few years.
From the golden-shower-Bulldog entertaining Tony Blair at the White House, to the NC Rep who unzipped his pants and then chased a 63 year old woman around his desk yelling "suck it baby, suck it," to the so-called weapons inspector who moonlights as a dungeon master instructing wannabe-Abu-Ghraib-interrogators in knife play, to the knowledge that Karl Rove did not inherit his adoptive father's solid gold c*ck ring, nor any other of the assorted solid gold jewelry pieces from the 37 or so genital piercings that earned him a place a cover model for a body modification magazine, one thing that the Bush Administration can boast of is that they have given us the most abundant and most salacious scandals since the Ceasars left power.
The only recent scandal even remotely comparable to ANY of this, is that of Max Mosely, whose daddy used to hang out with people that Prescott Bush admired.
And the Bush legacy is not over. Once he is removed from power, we will discover how he and Cheney spent their afternoons, and many of us may then need sedatives.

Maxie hired five hookers for five hours.
Yep, and he 68 and married for 40 or so years.
Then he dressed them up as Nazis and had them examine him for lice and stuff as if he was a prisoner. Then they spanked him and had to stop to put on a band aid on his bum because they hit him a little too hard. Then they switched and he was the Nazi and they were the prisoners. And then it turned out that one of the hookers had videotaped the whole thing and News of the World got it. Then that hooker turned out to be the wife of a MI5 spy and who promptly got fired over having a hooker-blackmailer wife.
Those are the juicy bits.

The google search took me less than 60 seconds.
It seems that the charming Mr. Cargol was "trying to build a friendship and help a friend build up self-confidence". This was his answer when confronted with allegedly sending "sexually explicit emails" to a university employee:
http://wc.arizona.edu/papers/95/62/01_5.html
"Cargol later sent the man an e-mail that one source told the Republic was "very clear in its nature - very vivid. You could see there was the (sexual) overture." "
Note that the newspaper story did not suggest, upon reading whatever was sent, that self-confidence was boosted.
Cargol was "shocked" at his firing.
O Shock! O Horror! What will I do now to fill the gap left with the loss of that cushy 180K$/year alleged job? Why, get another one, of course.

Well, it seems that some people know what horses not to back. One of the more interesting items is that the University of Abu Dhabi under Cargol, appears to have completely forgotten about the Holy Month of Ramadan and the effect this has on the nation as a whole. Reminds me of when SAIC tried to run the Iraqi Media Network.
Here is one post from a very educative thread.
Can anyone shed some light on Cargol's UAE past? He was at Sharjah College last year. Did he have any "behavioural" problems there? How did he get his post at ADU? Surely not "wasta," not for his kind of depravity. (See previous posting). My guess is that he carefully hid his past, being halfway around the world from the scene of the crime.
If I were to meet the man, I woud definitely keep my arse to the wall (if you know what I mean); and guard the family jewels, bigtime.

You know, I am still trying to figure out that "kind of guy" description.
I don't know what "kind" all that represents. It's either every guy, or none I ever heard of.
