Biden to Mukasey: "You Really Are an Enigma to Me"
There a whole host of issues confronting the Justice Department that remain unaddressed-- overall politicization, the Office of Legal Counsel memos, torture memos, hiring and firing practices, and selective prosecution. But when it comes to hard answers to Congressional Oversight, Attorney General Michael Mukasey dances around the questions, usually deflecting criticism that stems from the Gonzales era.
When Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) requested a listing of the OLC memoranda that the DOJ chose not to review, Mukasey stated that he didn't know that it "would serve anybody's interest" to do so.
When Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) questioned him about why Judith Miller was left in jail, he demurred, stating that it fell into the responsibilities of special counsel.
When Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA) wanted to know if anyone was planning on reviewing Gitmo detainees files to see why they were being detained, Mukasey deferred noting the cases were before the D.C. district court.
And when Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) demanded accountability for the loss of valuable civil servants to the politicization of the DOJ Honors Program, the Attorney General stated that it had already been "covered by the OIG report."
But when it was Sen. Joe Biden's (D-DE) turn to ask questions, he took a more straight forward approach, tearing into Mukasey as an "enigma," "acting like you float above up in the ether somewhere."

Democrats are congenitally submissive. There isn't a single one who could even possibly take on Mukasey, let alone Bush or Cheney.
I feel especially sorry for Waxman since his motion to hold Mukasey in contempt is going to go down in humiliating flames.
Is there anything more cringe-inducing than constant public emasculation?

At least Waxman started the motion. It's not he who's emasculated.

Waxman has been emasculated almost as many times as Leahy. He is absolutely no match for these people, and gets laughed at over and over and over again.

Only a brave warior fallls from his horse in battle. The coward never joins the fight. It is not the one who is defeated who is emasculated it is his cowardly comrades who fail to fight.

Honestly, who gives a shit who's "emasculated"? The issue is results, and whether or not our elected officials get the ones we want and expect from their campaign promises. If the answer to that question is no, then they need to be replaced by other officials when November comes round again.

I hate all these weasels who can't answer a simple question - they're all playing politics and believe they can't be touched.
I fully expect Bush to preemptively pardon anybody and everybody who was connected to him and his White House on his last day in office.

"THE PROSECUTION OF GEORGE W. BUSH FOR MURDER" is a new book in which Vincent Bugliosi lays out his meticulously-researched case that Bush (and Cheney, and others) have murdered more than 4,000 American soldiers, and can be tried and convicted, in an American court, as soon as their terms in office are over.
Bugliosi is the famed former prosecutor who won convictions in 105 of 106 felony trials before juries, including 21 out of 21 cases of murder.
He is absolutely determined to see that Bush does not get away with murder forever.
The quickest way to familiarize yourself with Bugliosi's case against Bush is to go to the website of The Public Record -- pubrecordDOTorg -- and click on the "Multimedia" heading.
There you will find a three-part video of Mr. Bugliosi's recent presentation to a standing-room-only audience. The video runs for about 50 minutes, total.
ABOUT PARDONS: The President can issue pardons for federal offenses only. Bugliosi contends that Bush&Co will be prosecutable for first-degree murder under STATE laws.

Completely apart from the legal and moral ramifications of crimes committed by these asswipes, the next administration will need four years just to restore basic competence to every department of government. Maybe by 2012 they can start DOing something.

Luckily, he doesn't have that ability to issue "blank" pardons for persons unnamed, or "omnibus" pardons for offenses uncharged.

Of course he does. The Unitary Executive means whatever the Executive wishes it to mean. And the Dumbocrats will go right along.

I don't expect Bush to pardon everybody, even if Cheney stands over him with a shotgun. He's going down as the worst president in history, and it's all their fault.

People get the government they deserve. When you wonder how corrupt foreign governments stay in power, remember this video.

Can you imagine Obama appointing a bozo like this?
Two cheers for Joe Biden. Good V.P. material.

Agreed. Plus Biden's lyrical twist spiced up the by the book, no-energy hearing. I didn't even post about how he described writing a bill "with my own little paw."

It sounds like the committee was over matched. "Who's your daddy now", was probably going through Mukasey's head when Biden was speaking.

He's not an enigma. Mukasey is a stonewalling jerk.

Dictionary.com defines enigma as follows: " a person of puzzling or contradictory character:"
There is nothing puzzling or contradictory about Mucus-e. He was selected by Bush. That's all you ever needed to know.

To CranialRectalLoopback:
You, yourself, are an enigma to me -- "...a person of puzzling or contradictory character."
On the one hand, you seem to be capable of coherent thought, and you demonstrate considerable ability to use the English language.
On the other hand, you degrade yourself as a person, and diminish the impact of anything you say, by identifying yourself with a tasteless, classless, vulgar name and image.
Why do you trash your own image this way?
Are we to understand that the character with his head up his a** is YOU?

Much like Alberto Gonzales was, he's the White House's Defense Attorney and not much of an Attorney General.

Biden is the man! I'd never watch something like it on CSPAN but that clip made me sit there and watch in amazement. Maybe CSPAN isn't that boring after all...

Here's a question: What exactly do you want these Senators and Representatives to do? I am assuming that you want them to be held in contempt of Congress, but what exactly does that mean? How is it accomplished? What is the procedure? Those questions are important to the taking of any action and the answers might point out why certain things are or are not happening.

If you do not watch C-Span, you ought to at least watch the clips posted by TPM/Veracifier. If you had, you would know that we have two Democrats, Senators Schumer and Feinstein, to thank for Attorney General Mukasey. What were they thinking?? Probably the same thing that Democrats who voted for the FISA Bill were thinking yesterday. What a bunch of spineless, shameless cowards!!!

Schumer and Feinstein gave Mukasey the Zion/AIPAC bear hug of approval and allowed him to become US Attorney General for Fascist criminal Bu$$hCo. Israel and those of the Jewish persuasion come first - long before any consideration of what might be in the best interests of America.
So here we languish as the vassals of the Zionist Rothschild Empire.

Don't forget about TORTURING A US CITIZEN AND CHIPPING THOMAS BEAN to prevent filing of a civil suit and MOTION FOR INJUNCTIVE RELIEF.
Don't forget about SFPD, DAVE NELSON, and Steve Pluta working with DOD CIFA/NSA 902ND to neutralize an honest circuit court judge NAMED PETER GREGORY who refused to join Nelson's latest conspiracy to OBSTRUCT JUSTICE when "Nelson wanted Judge Gregory to hand over his judicial copy" of Nelson's bogus ex part eavesdropping warrant application containing material falsifications facillitated by SF and MN FBI agents who DID NOT TURN OVER BRADY MATERIAL SHOWING GORDON AND BEAN'S INNOCENCE in regards to THE UNCLE FREDDY MURDER CONSPIRACY?!@?
