The ACLU filed a Freedom of Information Act request on Tuesday for records pertaining to the government’s cell phone tracking practices. The ACLU is concerned that the government is exercising unconstitutional powers with this practice and seeks to learn further details for a possible suit. (New York Times)

Two Texas Supreme Court justices have been accused of being unethical. Judge Nathan Hecht is accused of accepting a discount for legal services and Judge David Medina is accused of violating state law by paying himself from his political funds. An Illinois State Representative is warning his constituents of a fake email from someone posing as FBI director Robert Mueller. The email, like dozens of other spam emails, claims that the recipient has just won millions of dollars, possibly from terrorists. The State Rep., Bill Black, fears it may trick the elderly. An internal review at the Department of Homeland Security has concluded that the federal government was not at fault in two deaths of immigration detainees in 2006. The review does however note that the government could do a better job in overseeing detainee’s medical treatment (AP)
