Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) accused China on Tuesday of planning to spy on their Olympics hotel guests. Brownback based this accusation on a document he acquired that was given out to foreign-owned Chinese hotels threatening them with “severe retaliation” if they do not install government software into their servers. A petition has been filed by a coalition of advocacy groups to have Karl Rove held in contempt of Congress. The petition, signed by over 127,000 people, was put together by groups such as Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington and The Nation magazine. Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA) said yesterday that she is confident that the House Judiciary Committee will vote for contempt today. (AP)
