Cheney Link to Stevens Case
The corruption case against Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) is already yielding some interesting fruit.
Newsweek reported Saturday that, in a 2006 conversation secretly recorded by the FBI, Stevens and Bill Allen -- the oil-services executive who allegedly provided Stevens with $250,000 in financial gifts -- discussed how to get a pipeline bill through the Alaska legislature.
Stevens told Allen: "I'm gonna try to see if I can get some bigwigs from back here and say, 'Look ... you gotta get this done'." Two days later, Vice President Cheney took the unusual step of contacting Alaska lawmakers directly, urging them in a letter to "promptly enact" the legislation. Stevens confirmed to Newsweek that he had indeed asked Cheney to write the letter.
Newsweek notes that the former executive director of Cheney's energy task force had gone on to work as a lobbyist for BP, which would have built the pipeline. The magazine doesn't name the task force director, but it appears to be Andrew Lundquist. And it's worth pointing out that Lundquist -- who had worked as the Bush-Cheney campaign's energy expert in 2000, earning the nickname "Lightbulb" from the president -- has also worked as a top aide to Stevens.
Newsweek also reports that DOJ prosecutors did not include Cheney's letter in their motion and did not respond when the magazine asked why.

"Newsweek also reports that DOJ prosecutors did not include Cheney's letter in their motion and did not respond when the magazine asked why."
"DOJ prosecutors did not include Cheney's letter in their motion."
The DOJ (maybe "accidentially") over looked that? Aren't we surprised?
You don't have to be a blind conservative not to see it, just an ignorant one to deny it.

In this story...I noticed two things worth commenting on:
----1) CHENEY'S SECRETIVE ENERGY TASK FORCE: leads to ROUND ROCK, TEXAS, MURDER OF A PREGNANT CHRISTIAN HOUSEWIFE NAMED CHRISTINA MOORE who was murdered and stalked and illegally wiretapped by AUSTIN LAWYER WHITTINGTON ("the cut out between NSA 902nd CounterInteligence Group's SIGINT CALEA interface illegall wiretapping")......Whittington gave the info to the NSA TSP mercs on the ground who include the same three guys paid to come after me during the course of THE FBI HQ'S ONGOING CONSPIRACY TO TAMPER WITH A COOPERATING WITNESS WHO TRIED TO STOP THE FBI FROM BLOWING UP THE MURRAY BUILDING ON APRIL 19TH, 1995...see, TRANSCRIPT OF WITNESS TESTIMONY from SD US Attorney MICHELLE TAPKEN'S FED GRAND JURY that investigated my complaint.
----2) THE FED PROSECUTOR did not use the most important info concerning CHENEY'S OVERT ACT AS PART OF ANOTHER PSUEDO LEGAL RICO FELONY FRAUD CONSPIRACY that has already included the ENRON PUMP AND DUMP STOCK SWINDLE using FERC to help "pump Enron" with the grant of the perogative to trade in energy futures".

Shouldn't that be "Patriotic American"? And if you marry Vanderbilt's daughter and then run for President with Vanderbilt's money, you're "living the American Dream."

Back when the GAO was attempting to check up on Cheny's closed door energy get togethers with Enron and friends guess who went to the GAO and threatened their funding? Uncle Ted. Of course he denied it. There was an article about this in The Hill back then.

There are lots of dots to connect between Cheney and Stevens. Of course, these fellas are both from the old school of moral relativism so they are like minded from the get go.
A few of the smaller potatoes are in the mix with the native Alaskan group that magically wangled the no-bid contract to "serve" the U.S. paramilitary training troops (there to WIN the war on drugs, with heck of a job results)in Colombia. They managed to more than double the charge, per meal, that the previous provider supplied. Not being accustomed to slinging slop in tropical belts "advisors" from a Halliburton op brought the native company up to snuff. (I'm going to stick with native...don't know if they are Tlingit or Inuit or....)
It's trivia in the panoply of crimes committed by Cheney, in particular, but it shafted the U.S. taxpayer in tidy numbers all the same.

Where are the Woodwards and Bernsteins (with a little help from a Deep Throat or two, of course!) when you REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, need them more than ever?
Anybody trying/willing to "follow the money"?????

Thomas Bean - Isn't Whittington the same guy Cheney shot in the face back in 2006? Any connection to what you are reporting?

Sounds like Cheney & friends bought Stevens just like they bought Cunningham. Guess it explains why they originally pulled USA Buchanan out of Pittsburg to do damage control.

The useful shadow of BP came to an abrupt end in Alaska - could it be Ted Stevens and the Cheney/BP lobbyist had something to do with it ??

I just read the pdf of the Cheney letter more thoughtfully.
Good God, it opens by saying that "the government" of the U.S. requests reps to move quickly on enacting the state legislation.
Cheney is blatant enough to say who he thinks he is..."The Government."
So THAT'S what the fourth branch is about; it eliminates the need for the three branches we read about in the silly Constitution.

It would be helpful to talk about the Stevens case as the Stevens Corruption case and the Keating Five scandal as the Keating Five Corruption scandal, don't you think?

There are a lot of Cheney worms under a lot of rocks. It will take years to find them all.
