President To Appear With Sen. Stevens In Alaska Despite Indictment
Oh, the things you can do as a lame-duck president.
Despite Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) indictment last week on seven counts of false statements, President Bush is keeping their scheduled meeting in Fairbanks, Alaska today.
The two are set to meet at 4 PM AKDT (Alaska Daily Time, which is four hours behind EDT) at Eielson Air Force Base, Stevens' scheduler confirmed to TPMmuckraker.
The event with the president, who is stopping over in Alaska on his way to Beijing for the Olympics, is the second major appearance of the day for Stevens.
Earlier today the Stevens campaign held a rally in Anchorage after arriving at his campaign office behind a convoy of motorcycles. We'll have video and pictures coming shortly.

Can someone explain to me why Ted Stevens' automobile should be preceded by a convoy of motorcycles?

I think you meant EDT. (AKDT is 4 hours behind EDT, not EST.)

The Honorable Senator Stevens (Rethug) Alaska is lead by a procession of motor cycles. The Senator requested the "Hell's Angels" but they declined - saying the Senator was far too dishonest and the "Hell's Angels" motorcycle gang did not wish to tarnish their image.
The scumbag motorcycle gang the "Cretins of Corruption" who sell hard drugs to teenagers, pimp STD'ed prostitutes to John's, murder and rob banks - led Senator Stevens' limousine during his local political stop overs and rallies back home - weeks after he was indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice.

It's generous of Stevens to appear with someone so profoundly corrupt.

It cuts both ways. How many Senators are willing to appear with Bush who aren'tunder indictment?

Ok. So John. Yes, you, John McCain. If you were invited to share the podium with recently indicted U.S. Senator Stevens and President Bush, would you accept? You may take one Democrat with you. Is his name Inouye?

Is it only in Europe that the US military doesn't allow politicians and political events on military bases? Or does that just apply to Democrats?
