Stevens' Very, Very Short Memory
Maybe John McCain can't remember how many houses he owns, but it sounds like indicted GOP Sen. Ted Stevens (AK) has a pretty short memory too.
Just yesterday, we highlighted five Alaskans who called into a talk radio program on Tuesday to question Stevens on his upcoming trial and the charges against him.
But at a Republican Senate primary debate last night, Vic Vickers, a primary opponent to Stevens, posed a similar question to Ted about why he accepted $250,000 in gifts from VECO executive Bill Allen. And Ted's response, was. . . well. . . confusing:
"As I've traveled around Alaska, you know, I haven't had that question asked to me by anyone but a newsperson. And now you join that rank. Uh, the Alaskans I've talked to said "Ted, we believe in ya'," "Ted, I'm gonna give ya' a prayer," "Ted, we'll see you through this," uh, "We know, we know (emphasis) that you're innocent 'cause you said you're innocent."
Apparently, for Stevens, constituents who question him are entirely forgettable.

Yup, you got it.
And Don Young is even worse. If you didn't vote for him, you are not a 'constituent' -- according to his own words.
Not everyone in Alaska is as gullible as we are being made to seem. We all 'suspected' things were going on, but proving it was something else. And THEN THEY GOT COCKY and threw it in our faces. It was no longer possible for anyone to ignore. Thank God for the FBI.
No, I won't vote for Teddy or Donny. Neither seems to understand that with camera phones and the internet that NOTHING THEY DO is private any more.
The FBI has more than enough evidence to take Teddy 'out'. It is in his own best interest to cut a deal NOW......while he still has some 'constituents' that believe in him.
p.s. we're still waiting for the other shoes to drop: Benny Stevens and Frank Murkowski to name two who are in this up to their armpits.

This is made worse by the audio from the local radio program where a crap-load of Alaskans asked Stevens point-blank about his legal issues floating about the 'inter-tubes' and being aired nationally on Air America affiliates.

Holy moly, what's up with these pathetic Republican LOSERS. Are they in some kind of contest to outdo Nixon?

I am amused by the fact that Mr. Stevens must use his given name each time he reports what his Alaskans have "said" to him. Clearly his Alaskans haven't told him to answer a question straightforwardly.
And Palmerbuyer is correct, of course. Alaskans don't see the daily business of state pols any more clearly than we see what Cheney is up to regularly.

Speaking of Cheney (who is indeed a buddy of Uncle Ted's) apparently is tied by circumstantial evidence [there it is again]to Dick in a pipeline scheme with Bill Allen's Veco:

Something for you non Alaskans to consider. Notice how arrogant, vindictive and nasty Ted and Don are. Now imagine what they were like prior to the FBI investigations when they thought of themselves as gods. You couldn't even question them without being banished and shunned by the endless lineup of synchophants lined up for their scrap of pork.
Contrary to the official line many of Ted and Don's earmarks/riders came at the expense of Alaskans and benefited out of state and foriegn corporations at our expense.
