Alleged Abramoff Accomplice Kevin Ring Indicted
Kevin Ring, the former underling of jailed former lobbyist Jack Abramoff, has been indicted on ten counts of public corruption.
From the AP:
A 10-count federal indictment unsealed Monday charges Kevin Ring, 37, with conspiring with Abramoff to corrupt congressional and executive-branch officials by giving them things of value as a reward for helping Ring and his clients.Prior to becoming a lobbyist with Abramoff, Ring worked for Rep. John Doolittle, R-Calif., who remains under investigation in the Abramoff probe.
. . .The Justice Department said the indictment was returned by a grand jury on Friday and unsealed Monday after Ring was arrested. Ring was to appear in court later Monday.

Classy. Nice to know people like this are festering around McCain's camp.
On another note, according to wikipedia about Karl Rove,

I can see the resemblance.

I must be losing it. I thought Ring cut a deal with the DOJ awhile ago.
I've been meaning to ask if anyone thinks Abramoff gave up the good stuff - South Africa, Russians, etc.
Frankly, I remain quite skeptical about Abramoff falling into the SunCruz casino deal in early 2000.
Abramoff just happened to run into Gus Boulis's Greek maritime attorney at the water cooler and said attorney just happened to mention that SunCruz was for sale.
Yeah, right.
I'm pretty darned sure Abramoff and Kidan had Boulis bumped off and it might have had something to do with campaign cash being laundered through SunCruz.
Quite awhile ago, I suggested online that Joan something-or-other knew what was going on which was an awfully stupid thing to do on my part. I'm sure Mrs SunCruz Controller didn't need me giving anyone any idea about what she knows and didn't know.
If I ever catch up with the crooked Wells Fargo banker who gave Kidan a $20 million loan without doing any due diligence whatsoever, I will wring the truth out of him one way or the other, I swear. I've had it up to here with crooked bankers.
Not a bad idea to "ask" Tom DeLay what he knew about SunCruz cash, imo.

I wasn't talking Edwin A. Buckham, J. Thomas Smith or Tony Rudy, that's for sure.
I probably read that Ring was under investigation which he has been since 2005.
Does the DoJ know how to drag out an investigation or what?
I have an old TPM post somewhere about J. Thomas Smith and America 21. Maybe I'll dig it out and re-post. Smith was behind a congressional propaganda stunt set up to justify withdrawal of $34 million from the UN Population Fund in 2002.
