Davis Still an Officer at Lobbying Firm, Docs Show

We knew we hadn't seen the last news report on McCain campaign manager Rick Davis' ongoing ties to the lobby firm he founded, Davis Manafort.

Newsweek has taken a look at annual filings made by the company to the Virginia state government. Those filings, the most recent of which is from April of this year, list Davis as one of two officers and directors of the firm.

As the magazine notes, that information suggests that in recent days, the campaign "appear[s] to have overstated the extent to which Davis had severed his relationship with his lobbying firm." A statement posted on the McCain campaign website by a spokesman Wednesday morning -- in response to reports that Davis's firm was being paid by the home-loan giant Freddie Mac as recently as this month -- asserted that Davis "separated from his consulting firm, Davis Manafort, in 2006." And a campaign spokeswoman wrote in an email to Newsweek Tuesday that Davis "left" the firm that year.

Of course, the fact that someone is listed as an officer on a corporate filing doesn't prove that he was involved in the day-to-day running of the company during the period in question. But Newsweek's find will certainly keep the heat on Davis, who yesterday skipped lunch with reporters, at a time when McCain would prefer the focus to be on his own efforts, belated and vainglorious as they may be, to help avoid a financial meltdown.

Will someone check for personal consulting agreements between Davis Fanny & Freddy, etc?

Why does McCain have to lie to become President? Is this how all his trust has been earned over the yaers with the media and congress? How are we as Americas supposed to believe in change and hope when everyday we here of more distortions by McCain and his campaign?

The first question might make a good bumper sticker or T-shirt! I am just sayin'.

Well YOU know Raines received $ 90,000,000 from his job AND he is an advisor to Comrade Obama AND it is well documented that Raines fraudulantly estimated AND reported bogus earnins - SO WHEN are YOU going to rack that Muck???

DO NOT feed the trolls. They're just not worth it.

Franklin Raines, unless you know him better than himslf, has stated that he is not nor has he ever been apart of the Obama campaign. Why do you troll hunter have to lie to look good on blogs? Your actual thoughts might be interesting but they are all covered by your cutting and pasting, as well as your ignorance of reality.

If Davis had severed all ties to the company, and no one other than Davis ever did any lobbying/consulting for Freddie Mac, why was Freddie continuing to pay Davis Manafort? Under the circumstances, the fact that he did nothing at the company is irrelevant -- no one at the company did anything for Freddie Mac. This was a totally corrupt series of payments intended to gain influence with a possible McCain administration.

Well.

Hmmmm . . .

Although McInsane can't multi-task, the majority of his staff can OR . . .

Is it that they know they won't have government jobs come January and are keeping their options open?

McCains efforts belated and vainglorious?? He's only been warning and complaining about the goings-on at Fannies and Freddies for YEARS . . .

People claim corporate greed is the root of the problem . . . it isn't It's the trunk of that tree . . .at best.

The actual roots have little disease nodules all over them . . . shaped like donkeys.

Force Freddie and Fannie to give loans to crackheads and such, and by the time they are sold, and brokered, repackaged and traded, etc., you have a serious problem . . .and the root of the problem is FED-enforced, Democrat-led socialist financial policies.

And dang, still laughing at the asinine assertion that McCain is a day late and a dollar short when the reality is he was one of the first and loudest warnings that fed-mandated lending to high risk people/entities might be a BAD idea.

oh . . . and the actual topic:

Obama surrounds himself with bombers, racist preachers, and inept senate aides who don't have an apparent clue about their bosses positions on minor things like IMPORTANT ISSUES, lol.

I think tossing rocks into the McCain camp for something that is largely inconsequential is a bit . . . well . . . . silly.

You also might want to check out Randy Scheunemann working on McCain's campaign. He was a lobbyist for Georgia early on in McCain's bid for the presidency.

Lobbyists have experience in Washington and how it works. GREAT volunteers.

Obama has inept aides who seemingly REPEATEDLY fill out Obamas position statements and allegedly get his position . . oh . . . TOTALLY WRONG REPEATEDLY, according to Obama anyway . . . REPEATEDLY.

Maybe he should get more Lobbyists working for him?
