Gonzales Responds to Report: I "Look Forward to Moving on to New Challenges"

The fact that a prosecutor has been named to continue the investigation into the firing of nine U.S. attorneys doesn't seem to faze former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who issued a statement yesterday expressing relief that the process was over.

"My family and I are glad to have the investigation of my conduct in this matter behind us, and we look forward to moving on to new challenges," Gonzales said in a statement yesterday.

But the investigation, led by the Department of Justice's Inspector General and the Office of Professional Responsibility might be far from "behind" Gonzales. Yesterday, Attorney General Michael Mukasey named Nora Dannehy, a Connecticut interim U.S. attorney, as a prosecutor in the firings. At the IG report's behest, Dannehy will continue the investigation and work of the OIG and OPR offices, but with the power to compel testimony.

Nevertheless, Gonzales and his attorney, George J. Terwilliger III seem to be operating in a cloud of denial.

The investigation "is clearly over as to him," Terwilliger is quoted as saying in the New York Times. "The inspector general after 18 months of investigation has basically concluded that the facts and circumstances regarding Judge Gonzales's activity do not include any unlawful conduct."

"Basically" being defined as omitting any sentence that either has the word "the" in it or any paragraph containing punctuation.

Since Congress has chosen to take away any ramifications for breaking the law, lawlessness has begun to spread among the heirarchy of our government.

Gonzales isn't worried simply because there is nothing to worry about. Even if he does not receive a pardon from Bush, he will be pardoned by others we have chosen to lead this nation...

Important folks are just not supposed to pay the same consequences as commoners anymore. That concept disappeared a few years ago, ever to return... IMHO

OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE while "firing employees" tasked with upholding their fiduciary duty to prosecute serious crimes.........................................................IS NOT A CRIME ANYMORE?

Know why?

BECAUSE THE LAWS OF CONSPIRACY include the idea that "...any overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy to obstruct...makes all coconspirators liable for all crimes committed by all other conspirators...".

TRANSLATION: Rove--Cheney--Bush--Gonzo....HAVE IMMUNITY GRANTED BY THE SH--HEADS WHO HAVE THE SWORD, who are now remaking the rule of law.

It is highly irritating when we are reminded that the rich and powerful (and their favored minions) are not subject to the same laws as the rest of us. I would submit, however, that it is not all that recent. As I understand it, the roots of the word "privilege" (as in "the privileged classes") derives from "private law". The more things change ........

If Gonzales is in denial, it's something he learned at the knee of his former mentor, GW.

This is how you do it: Place your hands over your ears, close your eyes, and intone "lalalalalalalala" until enough time has passed that the problem has "gone away."

What color license plates will Gonzo like the best..He should have plenty of time to find out...
