Iglesias: Information on My Firing "Is Going To Have To Be Forced Out Of The Administration."

David Iglesias, the former US attorney whose dismissal was deemed the "most troubling" in today's IG report, says he still wants to see the full range of evidence about the White House's possible role in the firing. That includes all relevant emails and notes from meetings -- information the White House held back from the IG's investigators.

"That's the critical bit of information that we don't have right now," Iglesias told TPMmuckraker. He added: "I suspect that the information is going to have to be forced out of the administration."

Still, the former U.S. attorney said he feels vindicated by the report's conclusion that he was removed not because of managerial deficiencies but thanks to political pressure from the office of GOP senator Pete Domenici and New Mexico Republican activists. That conclusion "is consistent with what I've been saying all along," he said.

Iglesias stressed that he was heartened by the Justice Department's appointment of a prosecutor, Nora Dannehy, in the case. "I"m glad that DOJ is taking this seriously," he said.

I'm afraid David is going to get more of the same from DOJ. Mukasey is still an 'insider'and isn't going to upset the WH. Dennehy owes her position to the WH. Can you really believe she is going to get any co-operation when asking for information? The ONLY way this is going to see the light of day is if none of the information is destroyed, unlikely, and is available when a new AG takes over. Even then not, because some cockamamey excuse like opening old wounds and bringing the country together. All bullshit.

This is another case of putting Max Factor on a porker. Nothing is going to happen that will serve to further discredit the already indefensible record of the Bush/Halliburton Justice Department.

Nora Dannahey is a career Federal prosecutor with almost 20 years on the job. Explain to me how she "owes her position to the White House." Her father was a CT state Supreme Court justice and by all accounts was a stiffnecked and upright jurist.

She has a long history of successfully prosecuting cases against rogue public officials. Here is a description from a news account of one of these cases:

"But it was old-school Dannehy who was still standing after what amounted to a three-year legal knife fight with top members of Boston's defense bar in a case that grew out of the Silvester prosecution. She was outnumbered. The defense lawyers repeatedly tried to disqualify her after she threatened to indict one of them for obstruction of justice. All but three of Connecticut's federal judges removed themselves from the case over potential conflicts of interest. Another withdrew in frustration.

When it was over, Frederick McCarthy, owner of the Boston bond house accused of bribing Silvester, was fined $40,000 and incarcerated. His investment company was fined $4 million and driven out of business."

It sounds to me like she is exactly the person we want on this job.

Thanks.

I guess my question is, "How is Dannehy's appointment different from Patrick Fitzgerald's in the Plame case?" Does anyone know?
