McCain Camp Won't Talk About Ersatz Trooper-Gate Probe
The McCain-Palin campaign is now refusing to answer questions about the one Trooper-Gate investigation they're cooperating with.
That's the investigation, of course, that's being conducted by the state personnel board, whose members are appointed by the governor.
Referring to the state's investigator, Timothy Petumenos, campaign spokeswoman Meg Stapleton told reporters Tuesday: "He has asked to keep things confidential, so we will respect those wishes."
The McCain-Palin camp's tight-lipped approach stands in contrast to its willingness to talk freely about the state legislature's independent investigation, which the campaign has refused to cooperate with.
In recent weeks, the campaign has sent a team of lawyers and PR pros to Alaska to badmouth the probe as politically motivated -- despite a bipartisan 12-0 vote to launch the investigation. McCain aides, including Stapleton, have publicly questioned the impartiality of Hollis French and Kim Elton, the Democratic legislators overseeing the investigation, as well independent investigator Steve Branchflower. They have disparaged the record of Walt Monegan, the veteran and widely respected former public safety commissioner whose firing is at the heart of the case. And they have argued that the legislature lacks jurisdiction to pursue the matter -- an argument that appears to have little legal standing.
It's also worth noting that CNN has been taken in a bit by the McCain camp's spin. The headline and lead two paragraphs of the CNN story fail to make clear that the investigation in question is the state probe -- which likely won't be completed until after the election, and is being overseen by state employees ultimately answerable to the governor -- rather than the independent investigation being conducted by the legislature. A CNN story from Monday fell into a similar trap.

Who cares?
This is a sham investigation anyhow.

Obviously the BIPARTISAN congressmen who requested the investigation " care " and obviously the McCain Regime cares , because they are dodging , avoiding and spinning the investigation and like the right wingers are famous for saying, " if you ain't got noting to hide " ..cooperate and be the straight shooters you pretend to be and don't send an army of lawyers to Alaska to delay the investigation .

The investigation that you talk about is a different investigation. This investigation is the sham that Palin set up. See below with my high-lights.
Now Palin is claiming that she can't discuss the (sham) investigation (that she set up) because she's under investigation. In other words she created a cover up by launching her own investigation.

The only interesting answer that's going to come out of that investigation is who McCain and Palin chose to be the fall guy.
From the Maltese Falcon:
I wonder if whoever it is going to be blind-sided or already realizes that he/she is being setup to take the fall for Palin?

oooooohhhhhhh !!!!
A mystery! This is getting better than I ever could have imagined!
So who has she hired that isn't from Wasilla and graduated with her? The list should be extremely small.

The only thing that the American People need to know is that McCain/Palin are doing everything in their power to thwart this investigation. If Palin, her husband and her aides did nothing wrong, they would not be behaving this way. Their behavior is nothing short by an admission of guilt. Case closed!

Keep Sarah from a legislature oversight investigation, keep her from press conferences, generally keep her from the public. Great campaign!

McCain, Trailing in Polls, Continues Campaign By "Suspending" It
John McCain, trailing by 9 points in national polls, has announced that he is "suspending" his campaign.
Having lost significant ground to Obama on the issue of the economy, and facing a potentially defining and withering debate on Friday where he would be confronted on his statements on the economy that have led to this sharp decline, McCain has attempted to change the rules of the game, to erase many past errors through a putatively "unpolitical" move--something we have seen before.
A simple question: Under the same economic conditions, if McCain had been leading, does anyone believe that McCain would have "suspended" his campaign?
This is the ultimate in cynicism--using the current conditions in order to attempt to blunt a sharp decline and try to control the media dialogue, through a political act designed to avoid a potential political debacle. He is continuing his campaign--which was leading to loss in all directions--by "suspending" it. It is an attempt to silence media criticism and questions--and to prevent a debate on these issues that for him is sharply unfavorable.
McCain is attempting to avoid the debate in the face of this decline, through the type of evasion and lack of press access and communication that has characterized his campaign. It shows an extraordinary willingness to use difficult conditions to erase and avoid political errors, and serve political needs.
He surely would like to put off the debate, and attempt to create more favorable conditions for it. Don't be cowed.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Sarah Palin has streep throat and the McInsane campaign is trying to protect the press from the terrorist bacteria?
