Wooten Says He Hasn't Been Contacted By Trooper-Gate Probers

The Associated Press reports that Mike Wooten, the trooper at the center of Trooper-Gate, says he has not been contacted by investigators.

The independent investigator on the case, Steve Branchflower, has been on the job since around August 1st, and his contract runs through October 31st, though legislators overseeing the probe recently announced their intention to move up the final report's release date by three weeks.

Wooten told the AP he'd cooperate with the investigation if contacted. The AP also reported that former state public safety commissioner Walt Monegan will meet with investigators today.

The case centers on claims by Monegan that he was fired by Sarah Palin for refusing to fire Wooten -- a trooper who had undergone a messy divorce from Palin's sister and had become embroiled in a bitter dispute with Palin's family.

Why would he be?

The investigation is about what Sarah Palin and her staff did or did not do.

The investigation of what Wooten did or did not do was done in 2005- before Palin became governor. It found that, of about 36 complaints filed by Palin and her family/friends, only 2 were verified. The interesting part of this is that both incidents occurred in 2003 or 2004, and were essentially covered up by the entire Palin family- including Sarah Palin herself- until the divorce occurred in 2005. She has not been asked, nor has she said, why she thought such terrible deeds should have gone unreported for so long.

1. Moose killing- He was hunting with his wife (Palin's sister), who had a moose permit. They saw one, she would not shoot, so he did. It was takin to Palin's parent's home, where the butchering was done and the meat distributed. Apparently Sarah Palin and her family ate portions of it.

2. Tasering of son- Wooten returned from taser school, and was asked by his son to taser him so he could see what it felt like. Apparently a taser has a training setting or something similar, so the son was tasered (although not like a criminal would be).

Wooten admitted to both, was disciplined. No one in Alaska is defending that conduct, but the investigation is about what Palin did after becoming governor- not what Wooten had done years before.

Troopergate has all the makings of Watergate: potential misconduct of a relatively minor nature, lies and denials, coverup, tape recordings, stonewalling and an investigation by the legislative branch- with a special investigator.

I know Obama said families are off limits, but I can't resist. The hypocrsy of it all is too powerful. Could this be true. watch the video of what seems to be a credilble young man who says he wants to be a part of his baby' life. It's not the boyfriend. Anyone else know about this. Judge for yourself.

Divide the Republicans into three groups :

Bible Republicans; War Republicans; Country Club Republicans.

There are plenty of overlaps among the three groups; just think of the main motivation of each type.

The Bible people are happy about Ms Palin.
The War people like or love McCain.

The Country Club people are NOT happy.

They loathe lowbrow antics such as :

livin'-in-a-nowheresville-town;
rowdy-cop-messy-divorce;
workin' man-in-a-pickup-with-too-many-chilrens;
barely-finished-college-at-a-low-status-school;
oldest-kid-headed-to-Iraq-not-Wall-Street;
pregnant-seventeen-year-old-not-quite-married;

Ask around your town's best club: would any of the upstanding people at the club want to be seen within a mile of any of this ?

No. They would not.
