Mahoney's Wife Files for Divorce
The admissions of "multiple affairs" by Congressman Tim Mahoney, must have been an affair or two too many for his wife who filed for divorce today. The two had been married for almost 24 years.
From the the Palm Beach Post:
Terry Mahoney filed papers at the North County Courthouse in Palm Beach Gardens, which said the marriage is "irretrievably broken".She appeared with her husband, but did not speak last Tuesday when Mahoney made a 2-minute appearance before reporters. In that appearance, the congressman acknowledged causing "pain" in his marriage.

Why do these wives even show up? Just let the guy take the fall. Geez. At least she's quickly pulling the plug.

I am glad to see his wife is not being the dutiful wife and stood by the side of the cheating scumbag.

I don't know, after seeing Jon Stewart's take on Mahoney's dismissive head nod toward his wife - it could be that he's an asshole and now she has proof.

Hopefully she gets everything the spawned lovers don't collect. Since our government has decided the American taxpayers can never collect from these clowns for actual crimes, it is only proper that at least SOMEONE can get retribution...

I met this dumb douchebag 2 years ago, contributed to his campaign, and met him at Roy Black's house in Miami.
He struck me as an especially unimpressive guy, but hey, he stepped up and his timing was perfect once Foley's young boy problem was exposed.
All I can say is that if this tool can get this much pussy, then we are on the brink of the apocalypse. Or maybe something is in the water in Palm Beach County.

He has already violated their marriage vows. There is no marriage left. For her own sake, for her sanity and sense of pride, leaving is her best alternative. He should quit and get help.

Who can blame her?
As far as I can tell though, this isn't really related to his job as Congressman assuming he paid off the one woman with his own money. If a salesman or a CEO had multiple affairs and it got into the public domain it would not mean he/she loses their job.
Please understand I am not defending him in any way. I'm just concerned that somehow society says it is okay to have a politician publicly humiliated and sacked for having sex outside marriage (which is not illegal nor is it universally recognized as immoral) but that isn't the case for nearly any other job description. The two things are not necessarily related and shouldn't be.
It says a great deal about this guy's intelligence though, having succeeded Foley and then to choose to embroil himself in this sort of tawdry behavior. Of course, as I mentioned above, people in business do this all the time with no vocational penalty paid at all and this guy was a rich businessman before being elected.

Actually, having sex outside of marriage is recongnized as immoral in most people in the US, but people recognize that people do immoral things all the time. However, when is comes to politicians, people get self-righteous.
Isn't the first rule of cheating that you never admit the affair, no matter what, even if they have you on film. Politicians always cheat on their wives, (no female politician could ever survive the first affair) and then have a press conference acknowledging guilt on national television, as if that helps the situation. It never does. It makes a bad situation worse. It embarrasses the hell out of the wife, which only makes it more likely that she will leave him. The public always holds it against him.
If the guy simply said, "I am not going to put my marital business out in the street nobody would care."
