Report: Firing Wooten Wouldn't Have Made Palins Safer

As we noted last night, the Trooper-Gate report found that Sarah Palin's claims that she feared Mike Wooten were unfounded. But the subject of Palin's alleged concern for her own and her family's safety deserves more attention.

The McCain-Palin campaign has argued that the Palins were acting merely to "protect their family" in going after Wooten.

But in the report, Branchflower disposes of that argument:

Assuming that Trooper Wooten was ever inclined to attack Governor Palin or a family member, logic dictates that getting him fired would accomplish nothing to eliminate the potential for harm to her or her family. On the contrary, it might just precipitate some retaliatory conduct on his part. Causing Wooten to loose (sic) his job would not have de-escalated the situation, or provided her or her family with greater security.

Whatever gets them through the moment. That's the way these connivers roll. And to think that McCain tried to sneak her into the White House, to be "vetted" at a later, more leisurely time. (Shudder)

Did Wooten father any children, while he was married to Palin's sister. If he did, wouldn't getting him fired from his job also have it made it much more difficult for him to keep up with child support payments. Therefore, Sarah Palin would have ended up making life more difficult for her sister.

It was reported that she fired her security detail and she claims she was afraid of some threat, on top wanting to fire him , that would have possibly worsen the situation .
And the police commissioner was replaced by a guy , who RELEASED or FIRED a couple weeks later, because of Sexual Harassment allegations, turning this into some kind of three ring circus fiasco .
But if you look at CNN for example , who TWICE asserted " Abuse of Power ? " after getting details of the report , making it absolutely clear she DID ABUSE her Power . Putting a question mark up on their banner today , and the misleading infotainer Joe Johns saying it verbally on CNN, that there was still a question about it, was blatantly misleading . THE bias NEEDS TO BE CALLED OUT .

Yesterday CNN played long minutes of Palin's accusations about Obama over and over again. They played a little bit of Joe Biden, but the time devoted to Palin's screed was not at all in balance. Why are they doing it at all? This is someone who does drive-by mud-clinging and is totally unaccountable herself!

I am so sick of CNN and their off-balanced "coverage;" also when they compare -- as equal -- the accusations of Obama "palling around with terrorists" to statements about McCain's erratic and unfocused behavior I just want to scream!

er...that should read "mud-slinging" -- OOOPS!

Wooten and Palin's sister had 2 sons. The point you make is precisely what the family court judge admonished Palin and her sister for doing in his custody decision in the Wooten divorce case. He said the ex, Molly McCann, SarahandTodd Palin, and her father, Charles Heath were "trying to kill the goose who lays the golden egg" in their efforts to get Wooten fired. This is quoted in Branchflower's report.

Their entire motive for getting Wooten fired was to make it impossible for Wooten to find another amply paid job in Alaska and he'd have to move to Canada or the Lower 48 to find work, thus he'd lose his 50/50 custody status with regard to his two young sons and probably all contact with his two young sons. The last was most likely SarahandTodd et al's real goal.

This is a very common ploy played by vindictive ex-wives in family court and usually it works to the ex-wive's benefit sooner or later. McCann and SarahandTodd Palin must have been so nasty as to make even a family court judge sit up and take notice of their motives. They are one of the only cases where I've seen this happen and I've been involved in and following family court matters since 1987.

So in truth . . . Palin did not care about Wooten and in fact happily ate his moose . . .

The truth is Palin is a vicious angry woman who hated her sister and her sister's two children so much that she wanted them broke and penniless . . . starving in the cold Alaskian winter.

And, to keep our focus where it should be, never forget that John, Country First, McCain was the one who decided that we should be ruled by this reckless dimwit from the tundra.

No, no, no, no, no. The reason SarahandTodd Palin went after Wooten's job was to help Molly McCann out.

Apparently the trio acted so badly in family court that Molly lost her Female Privilege to always prevail in family court. IOW their behavior was so obviously egregious that it even pissed off the family court judge to the point where (its on the record and in Branchflower's report as well) the judge awarded a 50/50 custody split between Wooten and Molly.

I assume (from the comments of the judge in his closing) that there would be little or no Child Support exchanging hands between Wooten and Molly. The judge came out and told Molly (a dental hygienist) that she was willfully "under employed" and she should go back to work full time if she needed more income.

Molly like most ex-wives wanted Less Wooten and More of Wooten's Money in her life. If they could get Wooten fired he wouldn't be able to find as well a paying job in Alaska. With these 3 on his tail we already can see that Wooten wouldn't have been hired anywhere in Wasilla, the Mat-Su Valley, Anchorage, or probably any where in Alaska. Look at what Todd said and did WRT to John Glass.

BTW, Glass said he wasn't considering Wooten's application for the police opening in Wasilla even before Todd contacted him BECAUSE of ongoing Wooten's investigation by the State Troopers. THAT investigation was underway solely due to complaints from SarahandTodd Palin, Molly McCann, and Chuck Heath (Sarah and Molly's daddy). So they had already successfully prevented Wooten from being considered for a job outside of the Troopers.

If Wooten was fired and couldn't find good paying work in Alaska he would have to find work in Canada or the Lower 48. This would mean he would lose his 50/50 custody split with his two young sons. Better yet, to the Palins et al, Wooten would probably also lose all contact with his little boys. The PLUS in all of this is that the court would then have to award Molly with a BIG Child Support award.

THAT is what they were up to in trying to get Wooten fired.

Well, I am sure that Wooten is no saint either, since he is now on his fourth marriage. It looks like that whole Palin clan are just a cluster of Springer Show Rejects. Even Jerry has some standards.

Also, I heard elsewhere -- on Rachel Maddow, maybe -- that Palin reduced the size of the security detail covering her family. If she were so concerned about Wooten's doing her family harm, obviously she would have beefed up security, not cut it.

Zach's analysis remains the best on the web, but there are a few more good pieces with slightly different angles linked on RealityChex.com at http://www.realitychex.com Zach's is there, too, of course

The other thing that I have not seen discussed is:

Since Wooten's confidential personnel records were misused, and in the hands of Palin cronies, that had no right to them, doesn't Wooten and his Union have a great legal case to sue the Palins. They should file it ASAP>

I am a political junkie...read everything I could find on this case.

The Palins filed dozens of separate complaints against Mike Wooten after his wife (Sarah Palin's sister) filed for divorce. They accused him of taking place in an altercation in a bar while off duty, when in fact he was called to break the fight up. They accused him of driving home drunk from a bar, when in fact, he was driving somebody else who was drunk home from the bar (the bartender testified he did not have a drink). They accused him of hitting his wife when Sarah Palin was on the phone with her sister, but by coincidence, the Wootens' nosy neighbor was peering in through the window. Molly Wooten yelled at her husband for allegedly flirting with another woman at a barbecue earlier in the day, Wooten said "To hell with this, I'm going to bed", and Molly followed him up the stairs.

All the incidents, including the technically illegal moose shooting (some of which the Palin family ate!), took place before the divorce filing - in some cases two or three years before the divorce filing - yet were only reported after the divorce filing. The Palins did not consider Wooten's actions to be in any way wrong or illegal until they became character witnesses in Molly's divorce.

Some of the more bizarre accusations: Mike Wooten received a discount card available to Alaska troopers of a certain tenure. The Palins tried to get it revoked. Mike Wooten purchased a nice jacket which he wore to a public outing which the Palins also (separately) attended. Sarah Palin remarked to Col. Julia Grimes of the Troopers that it was "bad form" for Wooten to buy himself any new clothes when his wife was only awarded 50% of his assets. In other words, she wanted Wooten not only to lose his livelihood but to dress in sack cloth (and, no doubt, tar and feathers).

Mike Wooten was accused of drinking a beer in his patrol car. Although he admitted taking a "beer for later" from the refrigerator of a friend, no witness claims to have seen him actually drink it. But Todd Palin was once arrested for a DUI. Isn't that the pot calling the kettle "black"? Mike Wooten was accused of tasing his stepson, but on review of the charges, exercised enough caution to insure the boy did not come to any harm. Sarah Palin just used her 7 year old daughter as a human shield at a Philadelphia Flyers' game. She even told the audience at a fundraiser she was going to do that. Is there a difference? Sarah Palin's sister let her husband use her tag to shoot a moose, Chuck Heath butchered it and then the Heaths and the Palins made moose burgers and sausages out of it, which they ate. Walter Monegan warned them not to press the point about the moose because they, too, could be prosecuted.

What this all says to me is, not only are the Palins petty and vindictive, but they are (with a nod to John Grisham) stupid, stupid, stupid.
