Stevens Does the 'Convicted Felon' Shuffle In Welcome Home Celebration in AK
Even though he's now a convicted felon, Sen. Ted Stevens is not without friends.
The so called "Lion of Alaska," returned home yesterday to a rally in his honor in the airport that bears his name.
Approximately 500 supporters greeted Stevens with the chant "We trust you," Anchorage Daily News reported.
Some attendees wore shirts bearing the slogan, "F*#@ the feds, vote for Ted."
"Anyone who thinks you can get a fair trial in the heart of liberalism, Washington, D.C., is smoking dope. He was railroaded," Mark Kelliher, a retired engineer told the ADN expressing the distrust many Alaskans place in "outsiders," or non-Alaskans.
Members of Alaska's political elite also attended, including Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who urged the crowd to get friends to work and vote for Stevens and joined the elder senator in a little jig on stage.

We're not sure, but we think this might rival the biker gang escort Stevens got when he returned to Alaska after his indictment this August.
More pictures from the rally after the jump.

I do not even know what opinion I had of Alaska before ted and sarah took center stage, but I do know that it has gone decidedly down hill faster than ridin' shotgun on a snow machine during an avalanche.
yee fuckin ha.

This is much the reaction Cunningham got in San Diego. I still know people who point out what a fine man he is and who, if given the chance, would vote for him again. "A hero, a real hero - Top Gun was made based on his career, you know."
People would rather "know the Truth nobody wants us to know" than be the idiots who were duped.

Why wouldn't he dance? He's so confident of re-election.

Please......not everybody in Alaska will vote for this old turkey.
He started being more of a jerk about 20 years ago, but before then he WAS ONE THEN TOO. It just took some people longer to realize that he was also crooked.
It is time for him to do the right thing and retire.

Is 500 people a good draw in Alaska? I mean, I know it's a sparsely populated state, but, c'mon, 500?

No, 500 isn't considered a 'lot' of people, even for us.
Anchorage has around 300,000 people (if you include witnesses) and when you add in the Matanuska Valley (Wasilla, Palmer, Willow, etc.), 500 isn't even a drop in the bucket.
