Blackwater Admits Probes Of Weapons Shipments
Contracting giant Blackwater has confirmed the existence of multiple federal investigations into its work in shipping weapons to Iraq, reports Congress Daily.
The North Carolina company is facing separate investigations by a grand jury in the state, and by the State Department.
But in a statement, it took issue with some details from news reports last week. "The investigations ... do not allege that the company failed to obtain licenses or failed to ensure the government was aware of its actions," it said.
Rather, it said, "[t]he investigations concern Blackwater's not properly annotating the licenses, not timely submitting required reports, and not retaining required records."
Still, it essentially admitted the most eyebrow-raising charge -- that it had shipped weapons inside sacks of dog food -- saying that this was done to prevent theft.
Separately, federal prosecutors have drafted an indictment against Blackwater guards in connection with the deadly shooting of 17 Baghdad civilians last year, though no decisions on charges have been made.

Just remember...
when it's all said and done, if Blackwater is found guilty, money will be exchanged, but nobody will actually have to go to jail.
Our society, under both Republicans AND Democrats, will continue to support the big guys and those who give freely to the politicians' coffers.
Those who continue to elect folks in the two major parties will need to begin coming up with more excuses why this great nation is continuing its decline...
Too bad... genetics may some day find humans are related more to sheep or lemmings than to monkeys... IMHO

I've thought of a good use of Blackwater: they can hire out to ships in pirate-vulnerable waters. The only question is, do the ship owners have the money to pay? Maybe the insurance companies will pay them. BW can have lots of adrenaline-surging fun gathering info, planning defense and offense, and being the good guys in a lawless part of the planet. No particular country has to be involved in these messes.
In any case, get them out of our military system.
