Boxer Aide Facing Child Porn Charges
Jeff Rosato, a senior staffer for Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA), has been fired after he was charged by authorities late last week with distributing and receiving child pornography.

He was arrested after he sent more than 600 images and movies of child pornography to an undercover FBI agent he believed was a 13-year-old boy, according to an FBI affidavit.The online chats occurred from Jan. 2 to Jan. 23 over Google Hello, a photo-sharing program that was shut down in June. To identify Rosato, the FBI subpoenaed Google and Comcast.
In a Nov. 7 search of Rosato's Alexandria home, FBI agents found a computer with "approximately 200 images of child pornography and child erotica, and several movies containing child pornography and child erotica." Many of the images showed prepubescent boys engaged in sexual acts, according to the affidavit.
Rosato, who had served as senior policy advisor and counsel on the Environment and Public Works Committee, which Boxer chairs, had worked for the California senator since 2005.

I don't know if this will rub off on Boxer at all, but I'm really hoping that she gets a formidable preogressive primary challenger in 2010.

Agreed. I don't believe in the 'guilt by association' game, but this sick mofo needs to go away. texting 13yr old girls?? sick.
And yes, Boxer needs to go too. She is way too palsy with her Rethugs 'colleagues'. Now if we can just be rid of Reid...

As poorly as they did in the last 2 elections, it seems a strange time for this guy to try out for a position as a Republican.
I guess it's better than him starting his own church or joining the clergy.

Boxer IS a progressive! She represents her district and all of us well, and is one of the most progressive Senators in DC. My guess is that her opposition will come from the right in the next Senatorial election cycle.
Sadly, her staffer -- like too many "important," busy people (including Bill Clinton and New York's Elliot Spitzer) -- can't keep his zipper shut. Impossible to suggest that Boxer should have known what went on in his bedroom.

This is very similar -- virtually identical, eerily so -- to an incident about a year ago with a staffer for Washington Senator Maria Cantwell. Cantwell immediately fired the guy and her office gave full cooperation to the investigation. He was sentenced last month to three years in prison followed by ten years of supervised release. There was no blowback on Cantwell. I suspect it will be the same for Boxer.

Obviously, this guy is disgusting and deserves to be fully prosecuted.
Unfortunately, when you hear about this same crime applied to someone you knew or had once worked with - you are just as shocked. It should not reflect on Sen. Boxer.
Sen. Boxer is progressive and she will be very important in the Obama administration, especially on Environmental issues. And we love to see her take down smarmy Inhofe. She does it so well.
