Gibbs: We're Mulling Rove Subpoena
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was just asked at a briefing about Congress's subpoena, issued yesterday to Karl Rove, seeking his testimony on the US Attorneys firings.
Gibbs replied that the White House counsel's office "is studying those issues and will advise us when they have a recommendation."
As we reported earlier, the ball is now largely in President Obama's court as to whether Rove can continue to defy Congress's subpoena.
We'll keep you posted.

Let's see ... Scumbag Karl is issued a(nother) subpoena. And there's an "issue" for OLC to "study?"
Remarkable. NOT!

besides the illegalities around the USA firings, BushCo clearly committed multiple war crimes that violated both US and international law.
if Obama does not pursue, or allow others to pursue, justice for laws broken, then he becomes complicit in those crimes, complicit in obstruction of justice
that sounds harsh, but them's the basic facts of the matter. it's not a matter of letting bygones be bygones and moving on, it's a matter of if we, as a country, are to be a nation of laws or not

Don't just take my word about ignoring BushCo war crimes.
See what Jon Turley had to say about it yesterday on Olbermann's Countdown

If you don't follow the rule of law, it matters NOT what laws you pass.
Say hello to the new boss, same as the old boss.
To think I had the audacity to hope Obama would practice what he preached.

Under normal circumstances - if we could take everyone for their word - it would make sense to consider the request for immunity seriously - just in case there was a national security issue involved or what ever executive priviledge is supposed to be for.
But it's Rove, so we know he's covering up a crime.

There's not one flippin' chance in a trillion that the Obama adminstration is going to go after Rove. It just ain't gonna happen. Rove IS above the law. Point, game and match.

Wow... seems some people here have the ability to predict the future and then render judgement before it happens. (Which movie was that?) This is a chess game people... lots of moving parts, political, legal, and more. Take a chill pill. Obama hasn't even been in office 10 days and you're expecting Rove to be tried, convicted, and hanging from the gallows already. Sheesh!

That's my thought too. Let's have an opinion on the table before we start bitching about what it is.
At this point, anything that makes Rove's life more difficult makes me happy. And this sure doesn't make it easier. I'll bet he's not feeling as much confidence as some of the commenters here.

Can't happen too soon.
Although I don't have my hopes up.

Mulling? MULLING?
They are mulling over whether Rove should respond to a subpoena issued by the United States Congress that he previously ignored? Why are they mulling it over?
I'd like to see the justification for allowing people to ignore subpoenas. I surely hope that justification is not necessary.

They are mulling it over because they use a thoughtful process to make important decisions. Lookit all the stuff Team O has gotten done in 10 days; hard at work putting out the bush fire.
They won the election by using the time available to make decisions. Opponents kept baiting them and they almost never fell for it.
There is no point in giving Karl a quick ass-whupping today. By taking time to think things through, they might deliver bone-crusing body slams to Karl and the whole fucking Reschmucklican party. Take a deep breath. Let's see what tomorrow brings...

As usual..the wimp-ass Democrats are looking for a way out of enforcing a law..if politicians (of either party) are involved, that is (protect your own and let the "people" pay for it!!).....so much for restoring law and the peoples faith in government....

I can no longer trust Obama for it seams that every time that the REPUBLICANS WHINE Obama is or some one from his team to WIPE AWAY THE TEARS AND MAKE IT ALL GO AWAY. So I will say Rove(TURD BLOSSOM) is safe.

Remember Watergate and what happened when Richard "I'm Not A Crook" Nixon claimed executive privilege? Well a great Chief Judge named John Sirica cut him off at the pass and ordered him to produce the White House phone tapes that he was keeping secret at the time by claiming executive privilege. Judge Sirica had a great "pair". I whish we had great Americans like this today to handle "assholes" like Rove; but we don't.
It's important to invoke another name involved in Watergate. That was the person who really put the "icing on the cake" so to speak. That person would be Martha Mitchell wife of , then , Attorney General John Mitchell. Martha basically snitched on Nixon and the boys and told all their dirty little secrets. She took all the plausible deniability they had left away. She did a great service for law abiding Americans everywhere.
We need stand up Americans like Chief Judge John Sirica and Martha Mitchell today.
