Hodes Blasts 'Whitewash' IG Report on Pentagon Pundits
The Defense Department inspector general has absolved the Pentagon of any guilt for its systematic farming-out of military officials to promote the Iraq war on TV. But Rep. Paul Hodes (D-NH) isn't about to let the issue drop.
From a statement his office provided to TPMmuckraker:
This report is a whitewash and did not ask the right questions. There are factual inaccuracies and a lack of depth to the investigation. It's a nice parting gift to the Bush White House from the Pentagon. I plan to continue to pursue this matter to get the answers the American people deserve to ensure that they are not the victims of propaganda and deception in matters of war and peace.
Given that the IG report essentially declared there to be insufficient evidence to prove whether the pundits program violated anti-propaganda rules, Hodes has a point about the depth of the probe. Perhaps the coming Government Accountability Office report on the military's Iraq marketing will get more substantive answers from the networks.

Come Tuesday, let's have a real DoD Inspector General review these findings. Under the Obama administration, this s**t has got to stop.
DoD is sucking us dry and does not protect us. Keep these loser parasites away from our wallets.

The mere fact that propaganda is a word related to anything American is disgusting. While I know it has been around for ages, it still sounds like some soviet-style tactic. It makes me wonder what w actually saw in Putin's soul. He never did describe it, he just said that he agreed with it. Brrrrrrrr.

Does anyone think that "any" of the apples in the barrel were not contaminated during the past eight years? The military is proliferated with "win at any cost" Republicans and proselytizers. The electorate and the Obama administration can rid Congress of its cancer, but the UCMJ pretty-much protects those that have infected the military ranks. Proselytization contaminate every aspect of the military environment.

Someone wrote elsewhere here that if the "only looking forward" had not taken hold after Iran-Contra, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the whole bunch of criminals wouldn't have had a place at the table in these past sickening 8 years.
Obama cannot just let this go! Congress also has done it. It is up to him.

Just wondering; does the Hatch Act's authority extend into the Pentagon? Because the way to fight this kind of thing is under the presumption that it is not only propaganda, but political and partisan to boot.
Investigate, indict, convict, sentence.
Repeat as necessary.

Don't hold your breath! Oh, and don't expect anyone to honor subpoenas either. They are now optional, as proved by the last several that were ignored.

The subpoenas of Rove and Meyers could only be ignored with the connivance of the Democratic members of Congress.
Place that blame where it belongs.

Every uncovered lie of the Bush administration, whether it's a lie of the CIA, the FBI, the Pentagon, the DOJ, or other government entity, is being covered up by the US Congress and both political partys.
It's business as usual with all of them and it's the American people via their military loved ones and their federal taxes who must pay the price of those lies.
THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS IS NOTHING MORE THAN A NATIONAL DISGRACE TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DESERVE BETTER.
You don't have to be a blind conservative not to see it, just an ignorant one to deny it.
