Schumer On Tanner's Racist Email: "Shocking"
In a move that piqued our interest here at TPMmuckraker, Sen. Schumer, during his questioning of Eric Holder, cited the racist email sent by John Tanner, who was at the time the head of the voting rights section, about Mary Frances Berry, the then-chair of the US Commission on Civil Rights.
Schumer called the statement "all the more shocking becasue it's a supervisor in the civil rights division who said this."
Tanner sent a letter of apology to Berry earlier this week.
Here's the video:

Tanner needs to apologize publicly to the nation for betraying the national trust. No need to apologize to this Administration though. He will probably end up getting an interview w/Rush, Reagan and a trip to FOX.

One of the bigger points of interest in the story of Tanner's email isn't so much Tanner and what he said, but more the folks that Schlozman thought would enjoy the wit and humor of the response.
Those were?
They really need to go through and reopen all the positions that Schlozman hired for, then let them be filled based on qualifications, with nothing to prevent his hires from re-applying and keeping credit for their service time if rehired.
