Lawmakers' Caribbean Junket With Allen Stanford: The Pictures That Reveal All
We've put together a slideshow of that 2005 junket that a group of lawmakers -- including Katherine Harris, Tom Feeney, John Sweeney, James Clyburn, and Pete Sessions, went on to Antigua, paid for by an organization with close ties to Stanford.
Our favorite is the one of Harris and Sir Allen gazing into each other's eyes.
Check it out...

Ok, those are the staid "official" photographs taken with participants in suit/tie during greeting, discussions and lunch/dinner. Where are the other photographs of beaches, bikinis and partying? Much better for an expose, don't yeh know.

Why is it that giving bribes to members of congress is more criminal that members of congress receiving those same bribes?

It's not a "crime." Surely you don't believe our underprivileged Congress should pay for these opportunities to see what the rest of world is really like?

I am absolutely horrified at the number of dems in these pics. THAT makes me feel hopeless.

There were too many Democrats in that series of photos, but I'm curious about why so many had really dark sun tans? All but one, as I recall. Isn't there another story here to look into? Like perhaps a GOP recruitment drive.

hoppy,
I noticed that too. I guess taking members of the black Congressional caucus gave him an in with the Antiguan government which is also black.

Dudes, how could you allow yourselves get photographed on a "fact-finding" trip to of all places Antigua?!? Antigua is best known for three, err, four things: tourism, off-shore banking, internet gambling and now Allen Stanford. It's no coincidence that Stanford, a 5th generation Texan, is also an Antiguan citizen.
Damn, our Congressfolks are dumb. Good luck in spinning this junket as anything other than Congressional Whore Fest 2005 -- Antigua Edition. Especially as most seem to have served on banking committees.

Yeah, I haven't left the States in 10 years -- can't afford it. Maybe I could run for Congress. I was going to say if only my checkered past wasn't such an impediment. In another 10 years I'll look like a choir boy compared to some incumbents.
