Tapper Presses Gibbs On State Secrets
Jake Tapper of ABC News asked White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs today about a subject we've been writing about lately -- the administration's several invocations of the state secrets privilege, despite Barack Obama's criticism, as a presidential candidate last year, of President Bush's use of the privilege.
In response, Gibbs talked about the need to balance transparency with the need to protect national security.
Watch:

For those folks not old enough to have lived through much history of the United States...
State Secrets.... that information which protects those in power and those just relieved of power from the same justice which condemns lesser and unimportant people. On extremely rare occasion, this same information may possibly be needed for national security for a short period of time...
Of course, since it is a State Secret, only those committing crimes and their future cronies will have the power to release this same information....
Just another reason to rid our capital of the two major party mobs.

David Axelrod was questioned on why the Pres. is not going after the Lawyers today at some religious forum and from the sounds of it Obama is too afraid that the Right will freeze and stop doing anything but revolt against any attempt to live by the rule of law. Obama has made up his mind that no one will be prosecuted , period.

Let's not act as if this was an easy decision for him or Holder to make. A GOP revolt is probably on the LIST of reasons, yes, but don't underestimate the problems it can cause for Obama's agenda.
He's been attacked for a handshake, laughing in a 60 minutes interview, and "bowing" to the Saudi king. And not just by a few people but an entire party and news network - and spilled over into the MSM. Don't be flippant about what they will do over prosecution of the Bush Administration - a Republican administration.
Be outraged over his decision, but stop calling him a punk - we get enough of that from the Right.
