Cheney Still Pushing Bogus Saddam-Al Qaeda Link
Here's something else that's noteworthy from Cheney's speech. He again falsely implied that Saddam was working with al Qaeda:
We had the anthrax attack from an unknown source. We had the training camps of Afghanistan, and dictators like Saddam Hussein with known ties to Mideast terrorists.
It's unclear which "Mideast terrorists" those were. After all, Saddam had for over 30 years been the leader of a major Mideast country. It would be surprising if you couldn't find that he had "ties" to terrorists of some kind. But Cheney's purpose in bringing it up is clearly to suggest that Saddam had meaningful connections to the terrorists who hit us on 9/11. That's long been known to be a lie.

Uh... this is the guy who defends torture, and may very well have assembled his own, in-house vigilante/ninja team to snuff foes of this country (or merely hobgoblins of Cheney's own tender sensibilities, since we don't know what the killing standards were). This is the guy who has the Constitution printed on his toilet paper. This is Dick Cheney!
And we're shocked, shocked he's still pushing the Saddam/Osama "link"? What? You think there's a SHRED of f*ckin' decency in this son of a bitch?
Bwaaahahahaha... haw!... heh!... hahaha!!!!

"We had the anthrax attack from an unknown source."
Let's see. Everything this SOB says is exactly the opposite of the truth. Thus ....

Seems Cheney doesn't buy the FBI case against now-deceased U.S. Army research scientist Bruce Ivins, either. Interesting.

Even the US, in the days of Ronald RayGunz and Ollie North, had ties to the Contra terrorists in Nicaragua.

For that matter, Saddam had ties to many notable American terrorists, like George H.W. Bush and Donald Rumsfeld.

Saddam was known to have paid funds to families of anti-Israeli suicide bombers. That seems to be the only publicly known linkage.
What is interesting is that given only the now public data, Cheney took about three data points with large error bands and drew a straight line through them which conveniently pointed directly at Saddam. But a better fit to the data would be the circle they define which "points" directly at his own ass.

Amazing that anyone believes a word Cheney says these days. As a Republican during the long years of the Bush administration, I would shudder every time Cheney spoke. I cannot say he lies. the tragedy of Cheney's statements is that he is probably truly delusional and may be so delusional he is unable to find and repeat anything factually. I think he will end up decimating Republicans because those of us who were moderates have had to bolt the party. Although I still hold Mr.Bush responsible for what happened, I realize he was only an overgrown frat boy and he did not have to capacity to withstand the evil influence of Cheney who self appointed himself as the VP when he was finding a Vice Presidential candidate since President G.H.W.Bush knew he could not trust his son to be President. But sad to say, it did not turn out like the daddy 0planned and V. P. Cheney was the result. What a sad outcome!

Cheney has little left to try. If someone proceeds with war crimes tribunal, well, he's toast.
