Von Brunn Revered By Some Neo-Nazis
James Von Brunn appears to be a kind of revered elder statesman of the hardcore white supremacist movement.
A 2003 posting on the Neo-Nazi website Storm Front, by "The Celtic Pit Dog," asked readers to wish him good health after heart surgery and noted "I have heard many great things about this amazing man."
The poster wrote:
James W. von Brunn WW2 PT Boat Captain, White Nationalist, member of Mensa, the high-IQ society, owner of the web site www.holywesternempire.org. This great White Nationalist served 6.5 years of a 11 year sentence in Federal Prison just had heart surgeory in Maryland. Wish him luck with his health. You can e mail him at vonbrunn@goeaston.com. I have never met Mr. vanBrunn but hope to meet him maybe the end of the summer. I have heard many great things about this amazing man from his son who I be-friended when he was living in Florida.
Another poster on Storm Front, Elena, wrote that she was nominating Von Brunn for the title of "white racialist treasure," and described his book about the imagined Zionist conspiracy, "Kill The Best Gentiles," as "a valuable resource." Elena asked other readers to send their own nominations for the title, and signed her post: "Blessed be the Pro-White Activists."
And it may be not just hardcore Neo-Nazis on the right who liked Von Brunn's work. A recent screed he wrote about President Obama's birth certificate was posted on Free Republic, the conservative site.

Free Republic is honoring the conservative tradition of "personal responsibility". Expect Fox news to do the same with much of their online content, as well. Meanwhile, the rest of the media is allowing commentators to opine that this is all Obama's fault for allowing himself, a black man, to be elected by a large majority of American voters.
We should all feel duly chastised.

No kidding, there were three calls in a row on this morning's Washington Journal on C-Span, which was interviewing someone about the Fed, and all three callers talked kooky conspiracy theories about the Fed controlling democracy in the U.S., and one of them addressed the Rothschilds and their statement that if you control the money, you control the world.
And I remember this because I remember thinking, "Jesus Christ, I wonder which one of these assholes is eventually going to snap and start shooting up the mall?"
And then this happens. And then I read this assface's writing snippets featured here at TPm, one of which dealt with the Rothschilds and the Feds, and I thought, oh, okay.

Well Free Republic pulled the thread. They need to be held accountable for providing an on-line sanctuary and a platform for hateful a-holes like von Brunn. Nobody can stop him from spewing his hate on his own site but why would a supposedly repsectable site like Free Republic allow that?
People like von Brunn is why I don't and will never support a conservative politician...his ilk are at the core of what is left of the conservative movement!!!

Not just the right wing sites that should held accountable. How about the mainstream media that has carried nothing but hate messages against our successful 'minority' candidates, like Obama, and now, Sotomayor. Why else were Cheney, Gingrich, O'Reilly, Limbaugh and company saying the most reprehensible and for the most part untrue things about the democrats-as-betraying/ruining/destroying etc. the country, as well as about Muslims, Hispanics, and blacks--and questioning the loyalty of all of the above? And given star status in the media for their ludicrous outpourings. Were they hoping to enable and inspire these psychotics like Roeder and van Bruun to act, and to hide behind their violence?
I think conservatives, whose dream is to abuse government power and turn it to their own ends, have only one act in their repertoire: they terrorize us.

not especially. it's in west michigan, west of grand rapids between holland and muskegon. though west michigan (and west olive) is fairly rural and mostly republican, it's probably more dutch reform conservative than militia conservative. my impression is that the organized (such as they are) 'patriot groups' are mostly in eastern and northern parts of lower michigan.
