McKalip Quits As Medical Association President

David McKalip is resigning as president-elect of the Pinellas County Medical Association.

In a resignation letter reported on by the St. Petersburg Times, McKalip wrote:

I believe that it would be in the best interests of the Pinellas County Medical Association and its mission to serve patients, if I step down from the association at this time.

We reported earlier this morning that McKalip, a prominent Florida neurosurgeon and conservative opponent of health-care reform, has said he will no longer appear publicly for the anti-reform movement.

A racist email that McKalip recently sent, showing President Obama dressed as a witch doctor, was posted by TPMmuckraker yesterday, setting off a furor.

Many thanks to you and TPM for keeping on top of this. Between the reporting on this guy and the other clown who started "Conservatives for Conservatives for Patients' Rights" you're so unambigously revealing the anti-health care people for who and what they are.

This guy should be fighting for gay rights, an issue that would benefit him. And the Tea Party friend should be spending her time at a gym to remove some of her fat that is hanging from her head and chin.
