Mendelsohn Hosted “Marco Rubio U.S. Senate Kickoff”

Alan Mendelsohn

It’s not just Charlie Crist who has ties to indicted Florida fundraiser and lobbyist Alan Mendelsohn.

In March, the Miami Herald reported (via Nexis):

Hollywood eye doctor Alan Mendelsohn is billing a fundraiser at his home Thursday as the “Marco Rubio U.S. Senate Kickoff.”

Mendelsohn wrote to prosepective contributors:

While there are term-limits in Tallahassee limiting a legislator to 8 years in a particular office, there are NO term limits in the U.S. Senate or U.S. House of Representatives. Therefore, if we help Marco Rubio become elected to the U.S. Senate, he could easily serve several decades, gaining rank, while being a staunch ally of ours.

Rubio hadn’t formally announced his candidacy for the Senate at the time. Rubio and Crist are now competing for the GOP nomination.

Sounds like Mendelsohn didn’t put all his eggs in one basket with his fund-raising work.
