A conservative author's call for a backlash against the "Muslim community" earlier this week was nothing more than an honest typing error, the editor of the Web site that interviewed Dave Gaubatz tells TPMmuckraker.
Gaubatz's statement -- "Now is the time for a professional and legal backlash against the Muslim community and their leaders" -- was scrubbed from the Web site of Family Security Matters after it was reported by TPMmuckraker. The phrase Muslim community was altered to read "Muslim Brotherhood."
Pam Meister, editor at Family Security Matters, explained the change this way in am e-mail to TPMmuckraker (emphasis ours):
The interview was conducted via e-mail. After publication, Mr. Gaubatz realized he had written "Muslim community" when he really meant to say "Muslim Brotherhood." He asked us to make the correction.

No he didn't. He just didn't like that it got out a bit too widely.

i bet bulletproof vests get a little stifling in the winter, plus not a lot of bulletproof helmets come in holiday colors.

That's one whale of a typo. Or one whale of a falsehood. I'm leaning toward the latter.

Again: What? This is the second conservative attempt we've seen to pin things on the "Muslim Brotherhood". As far as I can tell this is a political party in Egypt and neighboring countries with some links to terrorism and historical links to Hamas but no particular relevance to any current event. Why the sudden focus by wingnuts on this particular group? Is there some kind of ACORN-style conspiracy theory making the rounds on wingnut blogs now? Or is "muslim brotherhood" just word salad and it's coincidence there is a real-world group by that name?

It's something somewhat tangible they can latch onto that sounds ominous and scary. Teabaggers will look this up on 'the google' and see, oh wow, look he wasn't kidding, there are search results so it must be true!

They really can't have it both ways. They want to ride on their hate agenda, yet they don't want to be hammered by it. You can't unring a bell and you can't rewrite a statement(after it's been panned). If they won;t apologize and explain what they said, if they had any integrity, they would stand by it. As for me, I hold them to the original, no mealy mouthed excuses!

During World War 2 there was movies that called Japanese by very bad names also intermant camps where used. The Japanese never killed thousand civilion Americans while they where on there jobs not hurting anyone. This last attack on America was on the Obama watch, by the way the president is dealing with it there will be more. The coverup in and if you ask quesions you are a racist. Hideing the truth does not help anyone, except Obama and of course the terrorist.
If I where poor living in this country waiting for the Obama hand up I think Islam might be a viable option.

I think I went to intermant camp when I was in the cub scouts. It really wasn't that bad, but then again, we didn't get movies there. And one time when I was in Africa, I was attacked by a civilion, but luckily, I was in my coverup.
Idiot...

Typing "community" when you actually meant "brotherhood" is absolutely NOT a typo. It might be a freudian slip, but it ain't a typo..
Is it a typo if I write "conservative asshole" when I actually mean "conservative author?"

"conservative addhole" would be the typo, since "conservative asshole" would have been the correct spelling -- o rm ay be "conserv a tive af fhole"
