Rep. Sue Myrick (R-NC), who wrote the foreword to Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that's Conspiring to Islamize America, said today she is "very concerned" about infiltration of the military by jihadists.
"We can't continue to be so politically correct that we're going to say this wasn't religiously motivated," Myrick told the Charlotte, North Carolina, CBS affiliate. She noted the reports that Nidal Malik Hasan shouted "Allahu Akbar" before he allegedly opened fire in the shooting spree at Fort Hood Thursday.
With the line about political correctness, Myrick was echoing conservative writers like Michelle Malkin, who declared today "political correctness is the handmaiden of terror."
Hasan's motivation in the shootings is not yet clear. President Obama said today: "I would caution against jumping to conclusions until we get all the facts."
Myrick has been leading a group of four House Republicans on a campaign to investigate Muslim intern "spies" on Capitol Hill, an effort launched by supposed revelations in the new book Muslim Mafia. She has touted the book -- for which she wrote the foreword -- despite the fact that its author has labeled Obama "Muslim" and questioned the loyalty of the two Muslim members of Congress.
Myrick said today, without specifying exactly what she meant, "I really and truly feel very strongly that we've got to look at this in a different light." We haven't heard the last from Myrick on the case. Noting her seat on the Intelligence Committee, she promised: "There's a lot to look into, and I intend to do that."
The audio of the interview is below. The anchors framed the segment as Myrick "weighing in and talking tough about Muslims in the military," and they noted that "many say [Hasan] is a lifelong Muslim."

Off on another witch hunt. Our forefathers must be rolling in their graves. We are getting so far from "freedom of religion", and tolerance for others who may not share "our" religion in this country, and so far towards right-wing zealotry, and it's horrifying. Bush/Cheney sure did teach "Us against Them" and it is ruining our nation.

Let's see, we've had these same concerns everytime we've been to war. The first generation americans of german and japanese decent were suspect as well. The thing she has on her side of the arguement is that her worry has come to fruition.

Lest you forget, there were real spies (a very few) among both German-Americans and Japanese-Americans. It still doesn't justify rounding up the entire population.

Remember: in the right-wing playbook, if you beat a man to death for being gay, it's "not a hate crime". If you shoot up a church because the members are "too liberal", it's not Rushbo or Glenn Beck's fault.
But if you go crazy and HAPPEN to be Muslim, it's clearly a religious issue.

How is a gay man that's murdered any more dead than the ex-wife that gets murdered because she got total custody of the kids? Both are hated, but the gay man is more "special" than the ex-wife?
Dilusional people are going to continue to commit their crimes no matter how they are labeled. All labeling certain crimes as hate crimes does is classify some people as more important than others. That's pretty unifying huh?

I think you may have misunderstood my comment - regardless of one's personal position on hate crime regulation, the fact is that many of the SAME representatives who reject the idea of judging a killer's motive are now immediately jumping to, "It's clearly a Muslim conspiracy against the US!"

Giving someone more of a punishment because of why they did it is stupid. I don't think this guy is going to get a bigger punishment because he doesn't like US policy, whereas the gay basher will because he doesn't like gays.
Labeling a crime as islamic terrorism merely deals with how they will try to counter it in the future.

Should Hasan be held 100% accountable for his actions? Most definitely.
Is it fair, relevant, and beneficial to discuss what might have been done to prevent him from "losing it" and "going postal"? Most definitely.
Does it serve any purpose to make gross generalizations about an entire group of people based on the actions of one disturbed individual? Only if you are a self-righteous bigot with an agenda.

Her perspective is to Christian beliefs as Wahabbism is to Muslim ones - a modification of an otherwise noble system that furthers her own goals.

You're being way too charitable to mainstream Islam and Christianity. Both are facilitators for extremist elements, not "otherwise noble systems". It's all in the "holy books"; the sane people just ignore the crazy stuff, while the fundamentalists take it seriously.

We know that christian fundamentalists have infiltrated the military and encourage soldiers to proselytize muslims. It also provides an ex-post facto excuse for going to war or killing them in the minds of these religious bigots. We now have evidence the the congress has been infiltrated and a secret plot by Rush Dooney has been in effect for years now and is coming to fruition. Behold "C street".
Why isn't this being investigated and prosecuted?
Christian fundamentalism is a huge problem, and it's ours.

Actually, as many people have mentioned, the military HAS been infiltrated by subversive elements who want to bring down the US so that they can set up their own system in the ashes. These various groups include the white supremacists who have been encouraging their people to enlist so that they can get weapons and tactical training for the coming race war that they plan to start. There are numerous reports of white supremacist graffiti throughout most of occupied Iraq. In at least some cases the officers in charge of the various bases in the US and abroad have deliberately ignored the problem.
The other group that has infiltrated is the christianists with the support of the Pentagon. They have taken over the Air Force Academy and chased out any officer and chaplain who opposes their agenda. Their stated objective (see C St., the Reconstructionists, etc.) is to create a theocracy made in their own image and destruction of any vestiges of democracy.
There is some overlap between the two groups, but even if there weren't, I doubt that there would be much conflict since they have similar goals. The christianists have shown that they are flexible when it comes to tactics as The Family in Michoacan that is the most vicious narco organization in Mexico runs on Dobson's Focus on the Family playbook.

I think that besides Ron paul, Sue Myrick is the only other member of Congress who is prudent. She is a wide woman to be cautious. I can not say that for the other members. Most of them should be investigated and thrown in jail for a breach of oath. What good is ANY statesman who swears before God and country to uphold the Constituion and then breaches that oath with every turn of business. I class all of those as Communist moles. WHO is our government. That is what we need to ask. WHO represents We The People ?

The cold war is over.. Turns out the commies weren't really the enemy. Turns out it's really the Christian totalitarians, like your hero, Myrick. She and the C street gang need to be routed out of congress, and every think tank supported by our taxes, and not be installed into some cushy retirement job in a university. These idiots and criminals are still held in high esteem after they've been convicted and removed from office. They should be sidelined and ignored like OJ.

For shekissed(maybe she kissed a fool) The cold war ended when Reagan forced the Soviet Union to spend themselves into bankruptcy. Interesting, if you knew your history and current events, when we got access to the East German files we found that many of the people accused of being Russian spies actually were during the 50's. It also turns out that our Muslim(the pig) actually attended at the same Mosque as two of the high jackers on 9/11. It is time for muslims to come out strongly against violence and when that happens I will put some faith in what they say. Having worked with them I don't trust them any farther than I can see and I don't believe anything they say. They are proven liars and thieves. Get your head out of the sand before they hand it to you on a platter.

Nonsense. The cold war ended because Gorbachev managed to take charge in in the Soviet Union. Gorby made the plan, took the risk & gets the credit.
Reagan gets credit for not launching the missiles. Oh, and for setting the GOP on the borrow-and-spend course that's ruined our nation.
