Condoleezza Rice responds to our report from yesterday that she's starting a strategic consulting firm with Stephen Hadley, the RiceHadley Group.

In a statement to TPMmuckraker, Rice's chief of staff, Colby Cooper, said:

Condoleezza Rice and Stephen Hadley, along with Anja Manuel, have recently founded a small strategic advisory firm focused on helping U.S. companies doing business abroad -- especially in key emerging markets like China, India, Brazil, the Middle East and others. In addition, Dr. Rice remains on the faculty of Stanford University and the Hoover Institution.

Manuel served in the State Department, as Special Assistant to Under Secretary for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns, during Rice's tenure as Secretary as State. She is currently at the Washington D.C. law firm WilmerHale.

Stephen Hadley's face is frozen in a permanent expression of plainly counterfeit concern. Every time I see him on TV or in a photograph, his face seems to be saying "That's right, idiots, I'm totally focused on doing what's right for America -- I'm not in this to acquire geopolitical power for myself and my fellow Masters of the Universe at all, tee hee!"

Typical authoritarian psychopath.

"...focused on helping U.S. companies doing business abroad -- especially in key emerging markets like China, India, Brazil, the Middle East and others."

You can't start a phrase with "especially" and end it with "and others." This guy is a chief of staff?

What are they gonna advise on? How to get your ass kicked by Cheney? They proper way to cradle Bush's Balzac while blowing him in the WH gym?
Maybe there are still one or two corporate exec who don't know how to lie with a straight face...
