Lanny Davis Launches New Lobby Shop: ‘The Best Solution Is A … Bipartisan Solution’

Lanny Davis

Lanny Davis is striking out on his own — and mounting a lonely campaign for bipartisanship as he does so.

The former Clinton White House lawyer, and tireless Hillary Clinton booster, announced this week that he’ll launch his own law and lobbying shop, which will offer clients “a unique combination of traditional legal and litigation services plus media/crisis management, and legislative/public policy strategies to solve U.S. and international client problems.”

Davis, a longtime friend of Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT), framed the venture as rooted in his commitment to moderation. “In today’s Washington, there is usually no ‘Red’ solution or ‘Blue’ solution but almost always the best solution is a ‘purple’ or bipartisan solution,” he said.

Davis has until now been a partner at McDermott Will & Emery. He said he will continue to write for a blog on legal and lobbying strategies that he founded recently and that appears on the firm’s website.

The Fox-friendly Davis signed on to lobby last year for Honduran business leaders who were seeking to convince the U.S. Congress that it should support, rather than oppose, the government that was installed in a military coup last year. In 2008, Davis took to the Wall Street Journal op-ed page to push the Reverend Wright story on behalf of Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
