Prosecutors: 46 Guns Found In Home Of Alleged Hutaree Member

Members of the Hutaree militia: Joshua Stone, Tina Stone, David Stone, Jr. (left-right, top row); Michael Meeks, David Stone, Sr., Joshua Clough (second row); Kristopher Sickles, Jacob Ward, Thomas Piatek (bottom row).

FBI agents found 46 guns and 13,000 rounds of ammunition in the Indiana home of one of the nine alleged members of the Hutaree Christian militia, prosecutors said at a hearing Wednesday.

That man, Thomas Piatek, was ordered held without bond and will face charges with the other charged Hutaree members in Detroit.

Prosecutors revealed other details of their operation in court in Detroit, where the other eight charged Hutaree members entered not guilty pleas.

Among other things, prosecutors alleged that Josh Stone posted a message on the Hutaree Web site that the group was ready “to go to war.” That prompted the action by the Feds, ABC reports.

Another of the charged men, Kristopher Sickles, allegedly “killed his cat so he could ‘see if he had it in him to kill something he cared about,’ prosecutors said, according to ABC.

Late Update: The order of detention for Piatek offers specifics of what authorities seized, including “46 firearms (rifles, shotguns, and handguns) including an AK 47 and two 50 caliber rifles, in excess of 13,000 rounds of live ammunition, a crossbow, a sword, knives, smoke grenades, a signal light, military-like clothing, gear, equipment, and supplies, and CD’s and DVD’s regarding militia activities.”
