Witness: To Appear Important, Ex-FL GOP Chair Had Blank Notes Brought To Him In Meetings

Former Florida Republican Party Chair Jim Greer

Looking for a quick and easy way to impress people without actually doing any work? Take a lesson from Jim Greer.

Near the end of a profile of the former Florida GOP chair and Charlie Crist buddy — who recently stepped down amid a spending scandal, and now is the subject of a criminal investigation for a contract awarded to himself and his executive director — the Orlando Sentinel reports:

Sharon Day, a Broward County committeewoman and secretary of the Republican National Committee, called Greer pompous and showy.

“We were at RNC meetings, and if you were to believe Jim Greer, the governor was calling him every 40 minutes.”

At one out-of-state RNC meeting, an aide kept walking in and handing notes to Greer, Day said. She was afraid something bad had happened in Florida, so she asked the aide about the notes. They were blank, she said. Her conclusion: Greer had had them delivered to make himself look important.

Hey, it’s a better idea than publicly cutting up your Amex card to dramatize your commitment to saving party money, then switching expenses to your top aide’s card.
