Faisal Shahzad, the man who tried to set off a crude bomb in Times Square in May, pleaded guilty in federal court in Manhattan today to weapons and terrorism counts.
The AP reports from the courtroom:
At one point, [the judge] asked him if he was sure he wanted to plead guilty.He launched into a statement, saying he wanted “to plead guilty and 100 times more” to let the U.S. know that if it did not get out of Iraq and Afghanistan and stop drone attacks and meddling in Muslim lands, “we will be attacking U.S.”
Shahzad faces a mandatory life sentence on two counts.
