Jenny Sanford Comes Out In Support Of Nikki Haley

Jenny Sanford

Jenny Sanford, who knows a thing or two about South Carolina sex scandals, has come out in support of South Carolina Republican gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley, who’s been fighting off claims of affairs by two GOP operatives.

Sanford said she’s been watching “with revulsion the spectacle that is now surrounding the Governor’s race.” She suggests that the claims are revenge for Haley’s political decisions. “I am more convinced than ever that Nikki Haley is the best person to be South Carolina’s next Governor,” Sanford said.

Previously, Haley said that Sanford had called her after blogger Will Folks had come out with the first affair claim. Haley said at the time that Sanford had been “very supportive and strong.”

Yesterday, South Carolina voters started receiving a robocall recorded by Sarah Palin in support of Haley. Like Sanford, Palin suggested that Haley was being politically attacked with “made-up nonsense.”

Read her full statement (via WLTX):

I have watched with revulsion the spectacle that is now surrounding the Governor’s race. Our state is better than this. I can’t help but think that these attacks are being leveled at Nikki Haley because of the courageous stands she has taken over the years in defense of taxpayers and government reform — stands that offend many of the most powerful interests in state government. I am more convinced than ever that Nikki Haley is the best person to be South Carolina’s next Governor.
