Scott Rothstein Sentenced To 50 Years In Prison For Ponzi Scheme

Scott Rothstein, the ex-lawyer charged with operating a $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme in Florida, has been sentenced to 50 years in prison, the Associated Press reports.

U.S. District Judge James Cohn gave Rothstein a longer sentence than the 40 years prosecutors had recommended. Rothstein’s lawyers had asked for no more than 30.

Rothstein pleaded guilty to the charges against him in January, and faced up to 100 years in prison.
