Michigan Assistant AG Blogging Against Gay College Student’s ‘Radical Homosexual Agenda’

Michigan Assistant Attorney General Andrew Shirvell

Michigan Assistant Attorney General Andrew Shirvell has a blog. It’s called “Chris Armstrong Watch” and is uniformly dedicated to keeping an eye on Armstrong, the openly gay University of Michigan student body president, who Shirvell maintains is “a radical homosexual activist” aiming “to promote a very deeply radical agenda at the University of Michigan.”

In his first blog post from April, Shirvell laid it all out:

This is a site for concerned University of Michigan alumni, students, and others who oppose the recent election of Chris Armstrong - a RADICAL HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVIST, RACIST, ELITIST, & LIAR - as the new head of student government.

He continued:

Armstrong’s radical agenda includes mandating “gender-neutral” housing so that cross-dressing students will not have to share a dorm room with a member of the same sex. This proposal, however, endangers female students, as it will also force heterosexuals of different genders to share the same room and will undoubtedly lead to a massive increase in rapes.

Armstrong has also stated that he sees his election as an opportunity to promote the homosexual lifestyle among his constituents.

He included a photoshopped picture of Armstrong with the word “resign” over his face, next to a rainbow flag with a swastika in the middle. You can see the picture here.

Since then, it seems, Shirvell has continued tracking Armstrong, reporting on the Facebook activity of he and his friends, and picketing outside of his parents’ house with signs.

According to CNN, Armstrong is considering legal action.

And the office of state Attorney General Mike Cox released the following statement to CNN:

In no way does Mr. Shirvell serve as a spokesperson for the Department of Attorney General and he is not authorized to speak on issues related to this office. Mr. Shirvell cannot be barred from appearing on your show as his civil service status protects his First Amendment rights without fear of discharge. Mr. Shirvell’s personal opinions are his and his alone and do not reflect the views of the Michigan Department of Attorney General. But his immaturity and lack of judgment outside the office are clear.

On Anderson Cooper’s show last night, Shirvell said that he’s simply “bringing awareness to what Chris really stands for,” and the “radical homosexual agenda” he’s promoting.

“That’s exactly what most affluent white homosexual males — like him — are: racist and elitist,” Shirvell continued, later adding:

I don’t have any hate in my body at all. I recognize that Chris is a child of god. However, just because he’s homosexual doesn’t mean he gets a free pass and we can’t criticize him. That does not make you a bigot to criticize somebody or somebody’s agenda. He’s a political figure, Anderson.
