The American Principles Project, founded by conservative Princeton professor Robert P. George as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, has partnered with its sister organization, the 501(c)(4) American Principles In Action, to promote a bus trip aimed at engaging Latino voters for Carly Fiorina’s campaign for U.S. Senate called “Vote Your Values (Vota Tus Valores).” Both organizations originally made headlines by accusing President Barack Obama’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Department of Education’s Office of Safe & Drug Free Schools, Kevin Jennings, of promoting a “radical gay agenda” in schools.
The anti-gay marriage group National Organization for Marriage is also supporting the campaign, according to the website, which is headed up by the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles and described as an initiative of American Principles Project on their website. Alfonso Aguilar, who was appointed by George W. Bush as the first Chief of the Office of Citizenship within U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, is running the Latino Partnership. Anti-tax advocate Grover Norquist and telenovela star Karyme Lozano sit on the board of directors.
So far, American Principles In Action spent $9,115.13 on a bus wrap and $59,974.00 on advertisingin support of Carly Fiorina, and they plan to spend $1 million in the state altogether. Expenses filed late last month appear to be the first recorded, though the bus tour was announced over the summer. Sources of the organization’s funds are not disclosed to the public.
The American Principles Project and American Principles In Action both ran a campaign called “Expel Jennings” targeting Kevin Jennings, who is gay.
“Jennings is a mastermind behind the homosexual infiltration of schools” they wrote on their website. “Bullying for any reason is is wrong, and schools should never tolerate it. But time and again, Mr. Jennings has used the cover of ‘bullying prevention’ to enforce his radical positions on sex education,” they wrote.
The group did not immediately respond to a message left last week at their headquarters, and did not immediately reply to a message left Monday morning.
